They had my name and phone number, and wanted to ask me about payment protection insurance. They said the call centre is in South Africa, and the accents would support that. I asked how they had my number. "National consumer database", which I said sounds a fictitious name. The supervisor told me their alleged company name, and another highly ambiguous trading name, and had me look up their website. There is very obviously no connection between them and the named website, which is based in another part of the country and is about completely different products. Highly dodgy. I asked to be removed from their database and not sold on to anyone else. Fat chance, I reckon.

My daughter received a call on her mobile phone and the person who spoke to her had details of her home address. She told my daughter the company was " Pension Refund", but as I deal with my daughters financial affairs she asked for a number so tha I could call back. When I call the number provided the operator asked if I received benefits and could be eligible for a grant for insulation. When I mentioned that I was responding to a call about "Pension Refunds" she became flustered and ask if someone could call me back. I asked for my daughters details to be removed from their database. Didn't catch the correct company name as the background was too noisy.

We don't have caller ID on our lilndane but it would be a nice added feature. I screen my calls on my mobile phone.I also wish I could talk to my family more often.
