I demanded to know how my name and number had been obtained but this was ignored and she just rambled on. I interrupted, saying - I am ending this call - which I did.
I dialled 1471 and got a phone number 01706 - 314629. I rang this number and heard a recording saying this is a Marketing number - no one is available to speak. WASTERS! -

Hung up very quickly when rumbled.. I have not had an RTA / Accident this century! I have blocked the number on my CPR told him nothing and reported the number to GMP on 101. I'd like to think that was Game, Set and Match to me!! But you never know so be careful out there!

As comments above, just had them call me claiming to be from 'Albany' about my motor accident file. Never had an accident, told them so. They tried to pass it off as error until I asked who had been passing on my details to them... they wouldn't say. Asked for a manager, none available...until I said I'd hold. Same spiel from the 'manager', and when I asked for the company details he gave 01704 222 222- the number of the legitimate Albany, despite my call ID having the 0161 displayed, and hung up sharpish. Fraudsters.

When I told him I wasn't with direct line he said I must be wrong. I told him to consider getting another job and to stop harassing the public, he told me to F*ck off. NICE!

I asked who was calling and he said it was regarding a Road Traffic Accident. I answered "whatever" and hung up.
We have had no accidents and hold no insurance with 'Albany'.
Next time will answer 'You are through to Greater Manchester Police, please hold the line'

These guys will claim that they are trying to close your file if you have had a car accident but all they are doing is phishing for more personal details. Told them I was speaking to my solicitors about them which hopefully will prevent further calls. They do not really help their cause for if you ring the number back an automated message says that it was a 'marketing call' and you will be contacted again later. Idiots.

Woman with Welsh accent called Nov 2014. Knew my name. Mumbled something like 'Albany Assurance' and said there had been a no fault accident claim (true) - asked her a few times why she was phoning as she wasn't my insurer. She gave a sigh and hung up. Guessing this is some sort of injury claim service - ie. dodgy imo.. Insurers sell your accident details on to companies like this, so don't be fooled just cos they know your name. Hang up straight away, never give out personal details or bank info.

As with Tommy, I had a call from a man with scouse accent asking to speak to someone at my address, I asked who was calling and his reply was that I had to identify myself to him, because for all he knew I could be a burglar!! FFS.
I pointed out that I had no such duty and that it was he that needed to identify himself to me. He became very pushy, but I insisted he tell me what business he felt he had calling my number - he waffled about some "Alliance" company or other in relation to an accident that someone at my address had in the past three years. I stopped him at this point and made it clear to him that he should not call this number again - his reply before hanging up was "Shut the F*ck up......"

Must have obtained my details from the thief at Aviva who stole my data along with hundreds of others( being prosecuted by data commissioner - wow!
