Richard reported unknown with the number 01618182004 as Harassment calls
They are calling claiming to be from your business energy supplier and that your energy contract renewal is due shortly. They seem to have access to old british gas information, but please DO NOT trust them, they will missell and place you onto high prices

Annoyed reported unknown with the number 01618182004 as Harassment calls
In less than 1 hour of me putting an ad on gumtree I was inundated with calls from this number and others with a Manchester area code. I kept blocking their numbers, but then they called from different landlines and mobile phone numbers asking if I'd had an accident in the last three years and I would be entitled up to £4K. I'm assuming they're muslim because they started calling me their 'sister' because of the origin of my nickname on Gumtree. I told them politely not to call me their sister and to stop harassing me. I only posted the ad yesterday and will be making a complaint to Gumtree about this. What was worrying is that their manager called 'Ahmed' eventually wanted my address so he could visit me to potentially buy my car, even though they kept changing the reason for their call from stating they were the National Accident Helpline to "oh, I just want to buy your car". It's disgusting and they really need to stop this harassment. So far, they have rang me on the following numbers (all on my auto-reject list now):
0161 818 2004
0161 818 9555
0161 544 4444
0776 014 1450
0161 900 1400
0194 239 1996
I'm starting to regret posting my ad on Gumtree. It's only been 1 day. -

George reported 0161 818 2004 with the number 01618182004 as Harassment calls
Told them I wasn't interested about a past accident that wasn't my fault as it had been happily dealt with at the time. They put me on to their manager, who I had to emphatically repeat to that I wasn't interested before they got the message.
Thanks to everyone on this forum for highlighting a possible scam.
They must have got my number and the fact that I had an accident from somewhere, so a breach of the data protection act must have occurred.
MY ADVICE:
1) REPORT THIS TO YOUR MP AND LOCAL COUNCILLOR AS A POSSIBLE SCAM & VIOLATION OF THE DATA PROECTION ACT.
2) GIVE THEM THE FULL FACTS OF YOUR PHONE CALL.
3) SUPPLY THEM WITH THIS LINK.
I HOPE THAT THIS IS HELPFUL.
I'M GOING TO REPORT THIS SHORTLY. -
Teejay reported Road Accident Management with the number +441618182004 as Harassment calls
I am both ex directory and registered with TPS so surprised to get an unsolicited call. Gentleman with indian accent saying he needed to discuss an accident registered to my address within the last 3 years. I asked him how he got my number and he just kept talking about getting accident details - when I demanded more information from him he hung up. Defintely untrustworthy

Had the very same thing on this number 016188182004. Indian accent from a call centre, passed on to "manager". Told them them I knew what they were up to and that they were ringing from India.
Don't give them any information and put the phone down. -
Investigator caro reported Accident Survey Company with the number 01618182004 as Harassment calls
This company phoned about an accident I had had. The thing that bothers me most is that they can only have got the information from the hospital or the GP so who is selling our numbers - mine is ex directory

Investigator Pet reported Accident Claim Management with the number 01618182004 as Cost trap
An Indian (at least it sounded that way) called me and said that he was due to a car accident 3 years ago, had information about me and now a case against me would be launched soon. But 3 years ago I was not even in the UK! The guy wanted to lie to me and probably cheat.
Ravi replied 8/17/14, 2:46 PMwe have not received any notice from the court.

Bright Spark reported CMC- Claims Management Company with the number 01618182004 as Harassment calls
Received a call from 0161 818 2004 earlier this afternoon from an chap with an Indian accent. He enquired about any motor accidents/claim that I may have had in the last 3 years. All he had was my phone number. I was immediately suspicious. He said he had a legal duty to obtain further details (name, address, date of accident, cars involved etc) and that I was legally obliged to supply it. He claimed to be acting on behalf of a bank of insurers, but failed to identify any insurers that I had policies with. I said I was not prepared to supply any details as he could obtain all the necessary information directly via the solicitors he was representing, or the insurers. He told me that the solicitors/insurers supplied no further information, other than my phone number. I refused to give any further information. He tried to legitimise the call by saying the calling company was based at 129 Deans Gate in Manchester and he was happy to supply me with an email address, web site details and manager's contact details. I was not convinced by this as any Tom, Dick or Ali can create a website or pretend to be someone they are not. He subsequently said he was acting for a Mr Patel working for Accident Survey Company based in Birmingham.
I wasn't having any of it and bluntly said that if they did not know:
my name or the name(s) of other drivers at my home, my address, or vehicle details, then I was not prepared to divulge any information to them.
Another person then took over the call purporting to be the manager and he repeated the same information about their company, legal obligations and that I was due compensation (the carrot!!). I repeated that I would continue not to give any further personal details until they could satisfy mean that this 'cold call' was in anyway legitimate.
At this point the 'manager' repeated his duties one final time and politely ended the call.
BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT YOU (AND YOUR FAMILY) PUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA SITES THAT MAY PERSONALLY IDENTIFY YOU, AND POSSIBLY LEAD TO IDENTITY THEFT.
IF A CALLER REQUESTS INFORMATION ABOUT YOU, ASK THEM TO CONFIRM SEVERAL SPECIFIC BITS OF PERSONAL DATA THAT THEY SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU AND THAT UNIQUELY IDENTIFIES YOU AND IS RELEVANT TO THE NATURE OF THE CALL. APPROXIMATE AGE (they can sometimes estimate this from your voice), GENDER (they can tell this from your voice), LOCATION (they may get this from your accent), EMAIL ADDRESS (they may get this from social media sites), OR THE FACT THAT I MAY HAVE BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, ETC are not sufficient.
BE CAREFUL, BE SAFE. :)
