As per the above - promising to write off debts. If it was that easy, well, I wouldn't be in debt now would I.
First couple of these I've had in years since I went all ex-directory, so some git has sold me number as part of a database recently, that much can be guessed.
Quick call to O2 and have the number changed works too if you can be bothered to tell your mates your number has changed. In fact that works twofold, it help weed out the crap from your address book.... -

I'm sick of these people calling, I never press any buttons as I heard it can be added to your telephone bill for cost of the call , I also reported them ,but do these company's take action ? I don't think so ?.

Said they wanted to help me write off 70% of my debts. How do they know that I am in debt? What business is it of theirs? They said I could register with TPS to avoide future calls, but I am already registered with TPS, so that is a lie!

I have contacted Trading Standards in Swansea to have this company investigated with view to private prosecution for harrassment -

Just received another unwanted call from 01792 211844. Recorded message with the usual guff. Press 5 to talk, 9 to be removed from the list etc., etc.
As usual with these call, I never press any buttons, just in case it take me to a premium number, but I did let the message run for its full duration of over 4 minutes (again). At least that way I have the satisfaction of knowing that while they're playing that to me, they're hopefully not bothering anyone else. If everyone did this, it would waste their time and maybe make the cost of running this 'service' unprofitable - well I can hope...
As others have said, I too am registered with the TPS yet these characters still get through. They are wasting their time, as I would never have any dealings with cold callers anyway.
I really wish I could have an automatic reject for numbers I choose to blacklist, in addition to the present anonymous number reject!

01792211844 - had a call with a pre-recorded message from a guy who announced himself as "Haddon Injury", (or so it sounded), trying to get me to claim compensation for some non-existent accident and injury. Scammers - why are we so useless at tracking and tracing these people, why is reporting it to TPS and ICO such a waste of time? One way I suppose would be to accept their offer and string them along until there was physical proof of the scumbags behind the scam.

I have caller display and never answer a call with a number I don't recognise. TPS is useless as these scam merchants don't use the listings anyway, and TPS cannot do anything about it. ICO doesn't seem to do much either.
Simply let it ring... my answer-phone kicks in after twenty rings and is completely blank. I know who might call me and which calls I will answer. -

These people keep calling my Mother who is in her eighties. It is so annoying as she is frail & frightened but they will not give up, she now does not answer the phone unless she recognises the number.

called quite a few times and also from 01792211846. the same annoying people who tell me that they can reduce my debts by 70%. What a load of rubbish. Only a court can do this if the evidence presented to the Judge warrants it. And you can do this yourself.
