23-11-2011 Mid-morning I was rung by a "Shane Carter" (English name, Indian voice) claiming to be from the "International Computer Technical Laboratory" (or something very similar) and stating he was concerned that my computer was infected by numerous viruses. I thought this had to be yet another scam, so as innocently as possible explained that I was in a rush but please could I have a number to ring back later. I expected the line to go dead, but actually the guy gave me the number. And they rang me back later to try again - but I politely declined to go on.
I rang North Wales Police - spoke to a polite call handler who will pass it on. I'm still wondering if they consider a crime was being attempted. I still think it was a scam- but why give me the number?
