this is the same experience i'm having everyday of the week, usually twice , sometimes up to 4 times a day.. various Indian blokes with the dubious name of James or Kevin ( who apparently live up the lane) then they demand i go onto the pc and follow their instructions.. initially i actually spoke to them.. now i've switched off the phone, cos i can't take it any more.. i'm in a wheelchair and it takes me bloody ages to get from A-> B in my home so wasting my life on this crap seriously is the final straw..

Rang at 6.30pm - I didn't recognise number so let ansafone take it - they didn't leave a message. I checked on this site to see who they were, so when the same number rang again at 7.20pm I answered (to wind them up!). A very polite sounding chap with an Indian (or similar) accent explained that he was carrying out a survey for ???????? (illegible) and asked me to confirm that my telephone number was ********** (which was obviously correct as he'd just rung it!). He then asked me to confirm that my name was Mrs ***** , I said Yes (even though it wasn't, the name he gave was the lady who used to have my phone number!), he then asked me if my postcode was **** *** and I said Yes (but again it wasn't correct, the first 4 digits were but not the last 3!).
He then asked if BT were my phone provider, I said No. He then asked if they were my broadband provider, I said No. He then informed me that BT would probably be calling me in the near future and thanked me for my "permission". I said "errr hold on, what "permission"?? He then said Goodbye and thank you. I interrupted him again and said "WHAT permission - I haven't given you permission for anything?" He ignored me and kept saying thank you, goodbye. At which point I said (rather angrily) "well let me tell you that you've got my name wrong and the postcode wrong, so whatever info you were hoping to glean is incorrect! Now, tell me what the purpose of your call was". He then became all flustered and I repeated my question again and he then hung up! -

Called my home and my daughter answered. She said she could not answer questions as she is under 18. He asked if she was still a virgin and did she want to have sex with him. These types of calls are outrageous! I told my daughter that any future calls that she does not know who they are, just hang up without saying anything.

Indian sounding female called from the number saying something about Telephone Preference, She knew my name, address and phone number and asked me if I was over 80yrs old, I refused to answer, she then said they wanted to take details of telephone preference, I asked her if she was from TPS ? and she didn't answer that, I then told her she was a scammer and not to ring me again, I have been able to block the number - I am concerned that they asked if I was over 80yrs old - maybe they are ringing until they find someone that is maybe try and get money over the phone.

Rang my house saying they calling from frontline servers. The Indian sounding caller told me my name, phone number & address and asked me to confirm if they're correct. I asked who am I confirming it with and why do they need to know and he said I just need a yes or no he's from frontline savers and they are just doing a telephone verification. I said no and hungup

David replied 8/4/15, 8:49 PMI got a call from a very well spoken bloke who sounded English or at least based here. Also using Front Line Savers. Didn't ask them to call, so he shouldn't have been surprised that I gave him both barrels into his earphones. Fight back everyone! -

Heavy female indian accent. Wanted me to confirm my name, address and telephone provider. Hung up but she rang back. My husband hung up but she rang back three times when we didn't answer. Will hang up and ring 1471 if happens again.

I was called from this number, the man who sounded foreign with poor English, said he was calling from my electricity supplier. He wanted my mpan number. If he was my supplier he would have had that information. I got rid of him and called my supplier who said someone from that number had called them earlier and tried to gain access to my account!

I asked him to tell me who he was without confirming my name. He persisted to try and get confirmation of my name each time I asked him to identify himself. After three attempts and clearly not getting anywhere with me he put the phone down

Steve Star from some company offering legal advice and help. Asked if I'd had an accident in the last 2.5 years or if someone in the family had. I asked him for the source of the information on me. He asked me what I meant? I said that if he was saying I had an accident , he must have some information on me and in that case, I had a right to know the source. He said " we help people , that's what we do" then he hung up - very helpful!!
