I had over the course of several weeks been receiving calls from people apparently mistaking me for a car dealer. These ranged from polite enquiries to sometimes aggressive and threatening calls from people wanting to buy cars. At 11:52 on Saturday 21st March, I missed a call claiming to be from Autotrader Customer Security Services who left a message for someone called Joseph, saying that their trader account had been reset. I have never owned or sold any vehicle and my name is not Joseph. I rang the number back to inform the caller that they had the wrong number and was kept on hold for seventeen (17) minutes, despite having tried to ring them back within eight (8)minutes of the original call. The automated message while I was on hold assured me that although the advisers were busy I was in a queue my call would be answered quickly. This dragged on and I eventually hung up. I have since found out that the number is a premium rate call and after seventeen minutes is likely to have cost me over £25 for a call that was not answered.
