    They phoned me saying they were from BT and trying to stop marketing calls (Like a kind of international Telephone Preference Service) and tried to get get my card details out of me.

    They read out my name and address to me then asked for the expiration date on my debit card so they could "verify" my details. I gave them a false one. They then asked for the "Reference" number of the card the big number along the top.

    I asked them to verify my BT account number (I'm on Virgin Media) but they did nit seem to understand this. I then asked them how they could verify a number they did not know. They ignored this as well.

    They got so irate when I refused that they said goodbye and hung up.

    Getting calls from this number several times a day, although I'm with TPS. When I answered the call they said they were from British Telecom, but they are not...I found a reference to Setanta Sports on the internet so I think they passed my number to them.

    got a call at 1045 pm. addressed me with my full name. only a few people know that. when I asked what this was about he just said "doesn't matter" and hang up. ?????whats going on?
