I am in Toronto, Canada, I got a call from 1-618-463-1412 person (with a strong East Indian accent) said they were from "Windows Genuine Advantage" and that I had issues with my computer. I had to ask several times to get him to repeat the name, he said it a few different ways but always with "Windows". I just got the laptop back from BestBuy the day before after spending $200 CAD to remove a bunch of viruses so I knew I had no issues. They were rude and kept insisting I type commands into my computer to "fix my issues". At the time I got the call I was on my computer and on line with Microsoft chat asking some questions about updating my windows and office software. Timing is everything so I asked the chat person and they said Microsoft NEVER calls unless I have asked them to. I explained to the caller I was on chat with Microsoft and I wasn't that dumb, he kept insisting I had "issues with my computer" and I just had to follow the steps. I hung up. This same scam has called when I wasn't home and got my husband who knows very little about computers but enough to know not to do what they were asking.
DON'T GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO AND DO NOT TYPE COMMANDS INTO YOUR COMPUTER!

I got this call a year ago, some towel head camel jockey claiming to be with Microsoft. Microsoft will NEVER contact you by phone. BEWARE
