Woman phoned and told my wife she was paying too much for appliance insurance and that she could do for cheaper. Told my wife the first four numbers of debit card and asked her to give the rest. My wife is very switched on and refused to tell her. My wife told the woman to ring back in half an hour when her husband, me, would be back. Surprise, surprise no call came. Beware and let any of your elderly relatives know.

I suggest you folk get a BT8500 Advanced Call Blocker phone. You can block it or only allow it to go to answer phone. I purchased a quad set for handling all these unsolicited calls. They are brilliant and as far as I know, the only phone to do this.

Just been called by 01202055080 telling me I needed to renew my appliance care.
I asked where they had my number from and was told "customer database* - i asked which product, and they said my oven, fridge, tumble dryer and microwave. I know this was a total con as I dont have a microwave or tumble dryer!!
When I said I was on Telephone Preference Service, the very rude pushy guy simply hung up as he knew I rumbled it.
Please spread the word. It's a total con. -

Second call on same day. Spoke with my wife who handed the phone over to me. I briefly listened to the same fraudulent story he gave to me earlier in the day.
I'm so glad he called back - it gave me the chance to direct some good old fashioned Anglo Saxon at him which he reciprocated with as he laughed. If it weren't for the fact that some vulnerable person may be conned by these a**holes then it would be funny. A more pathetic scam perpetrated by low-life scum would be hard to imagine. -

Just got an unsolicited call from them. The caller told me that the Insurance on my household appliances was on a more expensive tariff than it should be and that he could lower the cost for me by putting me on the correct tariff. I asked what appliances I had insurance on (I have no separate policy other than the cover provided by my home contents insurance) He told me it was on my oven hob and fridge. I told him that I had no cover and that I was concerned that he was trying to sell me something that I didn't want. At that stage he hung up. Called the number back and got a recorded automated message saying "you were called by Appliance Protection. This number does not accept incoming calls. Please leave a message after the tone" That was quickly followed by the same automated voice saying that the mailbox was full and would not accept any further messages.
These people are clearly fraudsters - BEWARE!!

A George from SMG phoned re changing insurance for household appliances,, definite scam as we dont have or want this insurance. Got quite shirty so was rude back and slammed down phone.

Same as greengrandad caller saying comp ins on household goods down graded to 3rd party only comp cover extra premium required, we dont have this type of household cover. SMG insurance is just a bunch of scammers.
