This is now the 5th or 6th call I have received from this caller 01242513505. The caller states they are from BT and that they have noticed I am having problems with my router in downloading information. He adds that he would like to send me a new router but in order to do this he needs to clear all of the unwanted data that has been downloaded by my router. He advises me that every time I go onto a web site unwanted information is being downloaded and this is causing my router to not work efficiently. Upon being advised that I did understand how the internet and how routers work and that should I have any need for updating of soft or hardware I will use the providers I currently commission. He then called me something quite unsavory and the phone was put down.
baz replied 2016-10-07 14:06:09Had pretty much the exact same phone call just now from an asian man claiming to be calling from BT, the reason being verbatim to yours. I questioned the integrity of the call by asking him if he has any security questions for me to answer and he said no. So I said "you're not calling from BT, are you?" thereafter he pretended that he could not hear me. I hung up. Time wasters and scam calls that prey upon the technically naive. -
Like above asian callers who become abusive when you play along and then tell them to go away politely well maybe not so politely lol, DO NOT TRUST AT ALL !!!!
-
They phoned saying for on BT to tell me there was a problem with my router. Heavy Asian accent. Told them to get lost.

These clowns have been ringing me for 3 days now purporting to be from Microsoft, or BT. Each time a heavy asian accent.Since my last post there have been 6 more calls. I've made it quite clear I know what they're up to. Now just hang up. Have tried TPS, they have no power to act.
-
3rd call today. Apparently info transfer slowing down my internet which they can fix if they access my computer. I asked if he worked for BT which he said he did. I asked for his employee number - he put the phone down. Strong Indian accent - again.
-
Some scabby asian b*stard 'Albert' claims to be from BT. Call him a c*nt and hang up.
-
"BT" asking about router for wifi. Before I could even answer (which I wasn't going to) he burst into giggles and put the phone down. Had a strong Indian accent.
-
Have been called twice now by a male with a heavy asian accent, claiming to be from BT, fixing an error on my router, and telling me to switch on my computer. Not happy, did not cooperate. Finally told him I thought he was a dishonest person, and rang off. No BT number to contact in relation to this
-
This number constantly rings me all hours of the night claiming to be from"BT"(british telecom) I DONT HAVE BT FOR MY PHONE COMPANY! THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
HANG UP! -
DO NOT ANSWER _ KNOWN SCAM CALL_
-
"BT" saying we had a problem with our router, we are with BT but don't have a BT router so knew he was lying. Had a strong Indian accent, as so as we said we didn't have a BT router he hung up.
-
Had a call from "Sean" at BT, telling me I had a very young voice after asking if he could speak to my mummy or daddy. Clearly a total scam so I hung up. The man had a strong Indian accent

Called yesterday 19Aug by a women with a very strong Asian accent. She wanted me to turn on my computer as BT had requested her to help me with my router, that was showing a fault, and she could talk me through the repair. I asked her to call back in half an hour as I was busy. I then checked the number that she had called on and it was not recognised. Contacted BT and they confirmed that this was a scam.that

Further to "Tired of scammers..." I have now been called 5 times in 2 days by this supposed Cheltenham number. (Yet they tell you they are in London if you ask, although they are at a loss if you ask in which part of London.) I am confident that they are in fact located in the Indian subcontinent. All five callers gave indigenous British names: "Mark", "Chris James", "Hazel", "David Hopkins", yet all five had Indian accents. Call-centre-like hubbub in the background. They tell you there is a fault with your router and ask you to boot up your computer. Told them I was not with BT. Then I got a call back (from the same number) when the caller identified themselves as from TalkTalk! Inept, low-life scammers.

Called from BT to tell me I had a router fault and was sending me another but first had to clear some errors on my PC. Told him it was away being repaired and I would ask the repair man to clear the problems.
-
Some stupid woman just rang claiming to be from BT and wanted me to give access to remote into my computer. I strung her along and then she asked me why I was wasting her time.
Don't fall for it :-
1) I could understand her so clearly not from BT !!
2) I'm not with BT anyway
3) I'm not going to fall for that one !! -
Been called twice by this number. First one hung up while I was pretending to turn on my computer. 2nd one asked me to press windows-R. Told him it didn't work (aas I hadn't actually bothered to turn it on) so he told me to open a browser. Eventually he admitted that an engineer was going to access my computer to "fix the fault". Told him I wasn't an idiot and hung up. Check http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/ctrl-windows-key-r-scam/9c5f848e-1265-4125-a58d-15bf7b6889da?auth=1

Claims to be a bt engineer I don't have a bt line said this he hung up
-
Caller introduced himself as "Mark" and said he was from BT but the number he called from does not connect if you call back. Line quality on "Mark's" call was so poor that it was hardly likely to be BT from the start.
-
They say they are from BT and want to fix a fault by getting you to log onto your computer. Clearly a scam.
-
They say they are from BT then try to get you to believe you have a broadband fault and then get you logged on your computer to resolve the problem-yeah right!! If you call the number back it is just a ghost number.
Malvern Man replied 2016-09-07 10:58:01Sorry it should show as a totally in trustworthy number! -
Tells you they are BT and ask you to turn off your internet. When asked how they prove they are BT they rang off!
-
This is a scam where the caller says are from BT or Windows and are trying to get access to your personal data. The best thing to say is that you don't use BT and/or don't have a computer. The number they call doesn't seem to be the real number but some kind of ghost number for them to hide behind.
