   Got a call from a guy asking me if i had problems with my ears of if i had worked in a noisy environment. Hung up when i said no. Called the number to see who they were and where they were from but the number is not recognised.

   Said we had advertised with them, they new all my details (which they can get off my website) went through everything then asked for my payment details. I smelt something fishy and asked for last years invoice to be sent as I have nothing on file. They went away!

   I paid for one year of advertising and they took the bank details and have been skimming off a monthly subscription over and above the annual payment. The bank statement reflects only half the company name and they gave the telephone number with one missing digit.

   These people conned my 80 year old father-in-law into paying £180 for advertising on their site. He runs a B&B and had never advertised with them but they called saying it was up for renewal and he had to pay. Now they refuse a refund and their 0845 number is unobtainable. We are now having to involve the courts. Utter crooks!

   I have been phoned by this lot at least twice a week over the year. They say they are my business manager. I know nothing about this. Every time it a young female's voice with a strong county accent, sounding as though she is my best friend, asking how I am, using my Christian name as though we know each other so well. I have told each of them I dont know who or what they are and to stop calling my number, as I have no wish to speak to them, that my number is a private number. However lo and behold several days later she is back again.

   We had the same problem and as they were calling from withheld numbers we subscribed to BT's reject anonymous calls service. We haven't had a call for ages but just got one as the number wasn't withheld. The solution is to say you are not aware of your arrangement with them and ask them to email details to you. They never do.
