A man called from Your Cover Service www.yourcoverservice.co.uk stating that they wanted to renew my appliances insurance cover insurance for 12 months at a special discount rate of £150. I had no knowledge of this insurance policy and would never take out appliances insurance cover because all of my appliances are automatically covered by my home contents insurance and by the 'goods fit for purpose' consumer laws in the uk.
The man insisted that payment was mandatory and that the insurance policy could not be cancelled as it was already in force and due for renewal.
I was passed on to a supervisor called Jackie who agreed to phone me back to clear up any confusion. She did not call me back but after phoning them and leaving several messages I was called by a lady called Laura who immediately became rude and aggressive when I suggested that she was operating an elaborate scam and that I would be complaining to the department of trade and industry and trading standards.
