They told me that if you paid your £495 by credit card you should be able to claim back the amount under section 75 of the consumer credit act. Hope this helps. I sent a letter of complaint to David Rushton the company director who agreed in writing to pay my full deposit back by October. This hasn't happened so I have contacted my credit card company who are working on this. Also you can complain to the legal ombudsmen www.legalombudsman.org.uk or call 0300 555 0333. Good luck!

I went through the whole process with SMS legal alias Scarlet services etc...
Their sales tactics were admittedly very good and it takes a lot to get me to listen and go for it. I was generally happy to proceed but then got very cautious when so far in to the process they asked for £495 of my credit card and they agreed it was a'holding fee'. However, they make you sign the agreements before they verbally admit you need to pay them the money, be aware as morally this is wrong.
I had looked into my own PPI claims in the past and nothing really came up. Anyhow there were completely unsuccessful, with them even lying to me, saying they appealed a decision to the ombudsman for a reclaim on my back package account fees. They did not and I asked for my money back at that point.
The whole process took circa 7 months before I had to make about 3 calls to get my £495 refunded to my CC. I sill get email updates from them even through I an technically not their customer.
In short, never ever go with a PPI company if they ring you out of the blue.Conned replied 9/27/16, 4:58 PMI had the same convincing very friendly 'cold call' sales pitch which I fell for 18 months ago. Once they had my £495 that was it! getting to speak to anyone was almost impossible, and even when I did they kept fobbing me off saying that they were still waiting for the various lenders to reply. After 12 months of nothing but statements stating that there was no PPI repayment due on some loans (which I already knew because I hadn't taken out PPI when it was offered) and 'awaiting response' from other lenders, I told them I was taking the matter to the FSA and the media...and suddenly my £495 was repayed. Up until last month I was still receiving statements from SMS Legal as, according to them, my account was still active even though they wrote to say that they had been unable to recover any PPI payments, so the repayment of the initial fee was to terminate their contract with me!Natalie replied 11/23/16, 1:47 PMHi can you tell me who you contacted to get your refund? I eventually got my money back from the broker who was the agent who introduced me to SMS Legal....but I'm sure this only happened as a gesture of goodwill after I discovered through conversation a most unexpected personal link. WARNING - this is the fake PPI claims company known as ULegal and also Scarlet Marketing Services and they are being investigated by MOI. DO NOT agree to anything and DO NOT give them your bank/credit card details if they ask you for £1 to confirm your account and do not sign their contract. Just found out hubby has done this and having to clear up the mess! To quote from contract "We will debit £495 within 72 hours of the telephone conversation being concluded, after the provision of pre-contract information to you and only after we receive your signed letter of engagement..."

Had a Call from SMS,i didn't think i could claim as i couldnt remember alot, and ive got rid of all my paperwork (im soo unorganised!). Spoke to a lovely girl who reassured me that they didnt need it. I was worried when i seen the reviews, but i find nobody takes their time to write good reviews only bad, so this is why im writing this. They Are still currently looking into my argeements, but so far ive had £3452 back on my car finances.

Set up a claim with this company late october. I was a little worried but put my trust in this company as i paid the fee on my barclay card so i know my credit card is protected.
Fantastic service and i had more money than i thought back! Just booked to go on holiday, Thank you SMS. Would recommend this company.

just because he promissed you pile of money if you pay not refundable deposit of aprox 500£ that initially is introduced as 1£ transaction?after couple minutes of set conversation with again- total stranger that probably get your telephone number in not exacly legal way, to set you in and also polightly ask for it?!

I have got to take my hat off to these guys being very sceptical at first having a telephone call but after 12weeks nervously waiting I have had a successful claim of £9785 on my credit cards which I had no paper work for and two loans I had for cars dating back late 90's I've just booked for the family to go to Mexico !

I have recently been in contact with this company all I can say is what a fantastic service I have received I was well aware of such telesales calls I would normally ignore but I listened to a lovely chap called Brian Cartwright and was very impressed with the knowledge he had once he completed my report it was 20 pages of financial agreements I forgot about over the years being in my 60s now . I have recently received a cheque for £11400 which he said I would get between 8000-10000 so very pleased

If you reading this have a brain - and i hope you do just think about it:
They have your number from thin air... Asking for all details of your bank AC or credit card... At this point you should hang up. It does not matter if they telling you who you speak with, what is a proof that is really that person?
I have to admit... I did fall for that, i never could expect that i can, but they have manuvered me- they live out of that so they are REALLY GOOD at it. I have canceled my arregments with them,straight away and not without difficulties take my money back 495£. It costs me 30£ phone bill to calling them as obviously is a premium rate they also make money from!
Also all my worries about them seems to be thrue as their website does not exist anymore!
I write this as a regular hard working person that needs to bust his a***s off at work and like to warn everybody to never fall for this kind of scam....
They put banks in a bad light because of ppi, but they charge you 1800£ out of 4000£ For sending template paperwork in your behalf... IF they were even genue company - that most likely THEY ARE NOT -

SMS legal called me up went through my agreements and i accepted the upfront 495 which i wasnt happy at first but i was fully aware im protected with CC company, 2 months on iv'e just received a settlement of £6350 plus they have found older agreements to im happy

had a call out of the blue which i was angry with however i have had so many of these calls so decided to have a listen. eventually after i had asked all of questions and seen they were legit on a gov webpage i decided on going ahead. im very happy i did because i was lucky to claim £4587 and still have a few more credit cards to look into. Overall happy with the service very much!!

I received a call from this company about 12 weeks ago. i couldn't remember who my old agreements where with as I hadn't kept any paperwork over the years which didn't matter to them as they managed to find all my account numbers and to date I've had 4 successful claims totaling over 8 thousand pound. I still have 1 claim thats still pending and would recommend them to anyone.

It's A PPI company they get your name and address from a list of those who've had credit cards / bank loans. They need one credit card number to get your loan/ credit card numbers. Actually sounded quite professional for a PPI firm

they are an abosolute con!! I had a call from them the other day where they were saying to me that i have been mis-sold ppi, but when i asked do you have any of my information they say no, and that i would have to provide any records of accounts ive had over the years such as credit cards, loans, car finances mortgages and so on? which made me very nervous as you would think they would have this information in the first place to ring you up, not only did they want all that information they wanted me to sign 2 "legal documents" via email and get card details to access my credit file and if my claim was successful i would have to pay a upfront fee of £495, as any one would be that made me suspicious and i wanted to find out more about them so i did my research and found out that Carmarthen branch have changed names numberous times and they have gone from Scarlet services, Scarlet marketing, SMS legal and U legal, the reason they have changed from SMS legal to U legal is because they are being investigated so DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY!!! there are 2 offices 1 based in the lyric building,5 King street, Carmarthen, SA31 1BH and another based in 12a high street, Ammanford, SA18 2LY. The one based in Ammanford has also changed its name numberous times going from Penguin ltd, Mis-Sold products, Scarlet marketing, Scarlet services, SMS Legal to U legal. Clearly something is not right for them to change names so many times. I would highly suggest if you want to claim back your money than do it yourself and dont go with any company that charges up front. If you have already claimed with any of them then i would ring the bank straight away and say that fraud has been committed and to cancel your card, if they carry on coming up with excuses go to the ombudsman.
