So much misinformation here that it's about time it was corrected.
The phone number 01482 489655 is that of Clearanswer telemarketing, a telephone sales and marketing company based in Hull. Its website is clearanswer.co.uk.
Contrary to what is said by some on here, 01482 489655 is emphatically NOT an EE contact number. Never has been. Never will be.
The truth is that EE is a client of the Clearanswer telesales / telemarketing company. So, too, are the following:
British Telecom, TalkTalk Business, and First Utility. A call from 01482489655 can be on behalf of any of those businesses.
Clearanswer is most likely to attempt to make contact with you when your broadband contract is coming to an end and the company you're with is desperate to lock you into a new contract on terms which will not actually do you any favours.
Whether it is EE, BT, TalkTalk or FirstUtility, you should NEVER, EVER discuss your internet service contract with Clearanswer.
You should instead have a PERMANENT BLOCK on 01482 489655.
If you need to talk to your Internet service provider (if it's BT, EE, TalkTalk or First Utility) you should ring the customer service numbers they provide for direct contact.
This is especially important when you're nearing the end of an Internet service contract, as the account retentions departments of all the above are better placed than Clearanswer telesales employees to negotiate the kind of deal you may wish to have.
Hope this clears up this long-running confusion.PhilT replied 2019-04-03 20:53:54Just to add: it seems from more recent posts on this thread that some people are under the misconception that this telemarketing outfit -- which is all it is -- is able to offer better "deals" to customers of the client companies involved than can the client companies themselves.
Utter rubbish. Clearanswer is a marketing agency employed by the companies I mentioned in my post. Its staff have nothing like the discretional negotiating leeway available to the actual companies themselves. If you're offered, let's say, £10 off a broadband contract if you renew, then as sure as heck you'll get double that amount by threatening the *actual* provider that you're leaving.
These agencies are NOT scammers. But they are third parties.Intermediaries, between you and the company you're contracted with.
On which basis, there's no reason -- no reason at all -- to deal with the monkey (as it were) when you should be dealing with the organ grinder.
You should regard with suspicion any post from anyone on here which tells you that you can "get a good deal" from this or any other telesales intermediary, or that they themselves had "a good deal".
You can't. And they didn't.SVicki replied 2019-08-19 18:49:21clear answer are all just EE employees working in a different building. when you call through to 150, you can be directed to anyone in an EE call centre or the cleaanswer call centre...all do the same thing and offer the same deals. -
It is my BB provider and they ask me 2 charaters out of the security question I set up with them and my surname for data protection before discussing my account.
I must say the person I spoke to was friendly and actually gave me a discount on my current deal, did not try n sell me more stuff which was good. -
I'm not sure why people are saying the are scammers pretending to be EE, the number is on their actual site as one of their direct partner numbers. However I still would not recommend picking up as EE broadband has terrible service. My advice is head for the hills and don't look back.
Dave replied 2017-09-11 17:31:44partners can still be scammers...I used to work for one!A nony mouse replied 2017-11-06 12:29:42Called repeatedly over last few days, but never anyone there when the call is answered.
Must be a scam as Silent Calls are illegal in this Country. If not, EE need to ensure they only b66u4partner with organisations who are legitimate and obey the rules.Martin replied 2018-08-17 11:35:54Called me once, did not pick up it. Anyway, I do not agree with EE broadband. There were few issues at the beginning, but then they offered me fibre and since then everything has been working smoothly. Much better than BT or Vodafone. -
Called today saying it was EE. Asked for confirmation of my surname and 2 different characters from mother's maiden name. I'm already with EE so they had all my info in front of them. They were then able to give me a £9.50 monthly discount on my plan so I'm so glad I picked up the phone!!

Looks to be a legit company calling on behalf on EE.
http://ee.co.uk/help/add-ons-benefits-and-plans/price-plans-and-costs/orange-price-plans/phone-calls-from-orange-and-our-partners
That aside, it's still marketing trying to sell extra products etc. -
Call from agent for EE, which I managed to get them to verify as the number on my phone came up as 'possible fraud.' My broadband/TV Box price has now been frozen by them for 18 next months, (EE previously sent me warning it would be going up at end of contract date) and a free upgrade to super-fast broadband, from fast.
They were able to give me details about when my phone, that I also have with EE, was due for upgrade as verification that they were actually genuine, as I've had callers before about phone upgrades who couldn't tell me that.
They asked me for 2 letters from my mother's surname as security, and confirmed the upgrade by email straight after the call from the EE email address. -
They just said they were from EE and wanted to talk about upgrading my broadband with them. Said sorry no as I already upgraded with someone else, they asked why I done so then hung up.

yesterday i was looking to move broadband providers and entered my phone number on EE site. I did not g
give them permission to call me! -
Chasing up for broadband. I made an online enquiry as to availability and prices to various firms as my current contract is coming to an end. These guys don't like no as an answer. I was considering EE but this number is calling twice daily despite me telling them I would call EE if I chose to go with them when my contract with BT ends.. btw EE broadband is owned by BT. Despite my requests not to call me any more I'm getting 2 calls a day at lunchtime and early eve. Guess I'm not going with EE either
PhilT replied 2019-06-25 21:12:54I wasn't aware that BT owned EE. I do know, however, that Plusnet is a subsidiary (wholly independent) of BT. I switched to Plusnet when my BT contract came to an end: better service, greater reliability, cheaper prices for weeknight and weekend calls package and also mobiles. It's BT by another name, but definitely a better one. Oh: and Plusnet is emphatically NOT a client of Clearanswer telephone marketing.abcd replied 2019-09-21 07:10:52BT don't own EE.
EE are the company formerly known as Orange. -
I was getting phonecalls for last few days but at first ignored it. Since calls didn't stop I decided to check online who could that be. After reading multiple comments about it being ee, I decided to call them directly on official 0800... numberto check if everything is in order.
Ee hasn't made a single attempt to contact me, so be really careful and don't give any details.
Not long after my conversation with the actual EE customer service and same number ringing... This time I decided to answer. Lier kept saying she's calling from Ee about my broadband until I told her that I'm reporting it as scam, this phone call is being recorded, I spoke few minutes ago with ee and confirmed they didn't try to contact me. Said sorry and hung up. -
They always hang up as answering machine connects the call. Did look at their offers recently so must have given my phone number to check coverage.
-
Terrible company,Call inconveniently rude, demanding access to your personal information and insist on calling you by your first name.
-
Not expecting a call from a broadband provider haven't given my number to anyone regarding broadband or phone, this man saying they are EE. Although polite enough, I was polite on BOTH occasions they called, 2.30pm and 19.33. I asked them not to call me again the first time around and I asked them AGAIN this evening, so nuscience calls now.
Blocked.

i dont answer calls on my mobile i only use it for te3xts

EE renew contract sales. They have better deals than calling yourself customer service. They ask you to stay with EE.
-
Maybe it's EE maybe it isn't (I have inquired about broadband with them recently so they have my contact details). But getting a phone call from a regional number other side of the country at 7:45pm is not something I'm after!
-
Called today saying it was EE. The lady I spoke to was extremely polite and friendly and offered me a £6 discount a month on my home Broadband package PLUS 1500 minutes Anytime mobile minutes a month. I was paying £6 a month more for landline calls only so a great saving. If you are a loyal EE customer I advise people to answer this call
-
Further to my comments a few days ago, they still call, the call is answered, but there is no one there.
NO REPUTABLE company would do this, or allow their partners to.
-
Called saying they where from EE which I have, then they wanted me to confirm my name, they could not tell me my name, then they wanted my mothers maiden name.
Very strange, not sure if it was scammers so I hung up the phone anyway. -
Call started off nice enough. I had spoken to EE earlier in the day about possibly taking out BB with them. Just received a call from some nasty old cow on this number demanding I give her personal information. I asked the reason and she said it was because I had been looking at BB on the EE website. I explained the conversation that I'd had earlier in the day and that if I was interested I'd call EE back. She was so unbelievably rude claiming I'd put my phone number somewhere on the website so they were entitled to call me. I said that wasn't the case and that EE had my number as I was already a customer. She became more rude, swore at me and told me I wasted her time! Told her to f*ck off and hung up.
-
numerous calls, they never speak if you answer, nver leave a message. They will not speak to you if you call them.... BLOCKED
Avoid like the plague they seem to be -
Really glad I answered this call for once... hate coldcallers but I googled the number when they first rang then decided to answer the second time they called... I have 2 broadband accounts with EE and the lovely lady I spoke to saved me £7.5o on one and £12 on the other...email confirmation was received of my new deal so all is genuine with this call
-
Called today asking for personal details but couldn't confirm who they were (said they were EE but couldn't confirm this until I had given them my personal details first.) Had wrong details about myself
-
From the other comments on this number it is not to be trusted. Ring and did not leave a voicemail. Very dodgy.
-
scam number confirmed by EE
Bob replied 2017-05-31 21:00:31The number is on their website.. you probably missed out on saving money by not answering actually. -
Please do not give this number your broadband or phone information it is a scam caller who says they are EE phone company. This has been confirmed by EE themselves this number is not associated to their company.
Andrew replied 2017-03-02 17:42:46Actually looks legit and it's on the EE website as a partner

Nope replied 2017-09-01 13:38:46Yeah this isn't the case and an odd thing to make up. As per the link below its a number from an EE call centre - i assume theyre calling because of a complaint i have made.EE customer replied 2017-09-04 13:55:22EE just confirmed this is not genuine
with the statement 'unless EE promise that they will arrange a call back or anything regarding any issue you escalated EE never call to their customers for any feedback/surveys' -
Called 5 times since midday. Haven't answered because I don't answer to numbers I don't recognise. They Leave no voicemail so assuming it's a scam
