I keep getting phone calls off Vanquis trying all sorts of different numbers which include:

I wrote to them a couple of weeks ago, in fact I have written to the twice concerning my financial difficulties advising them that I cannot pay atm but they keep harrassing me.
They're tactics are very good, I will give them that! Trying a variety of numbers including a local dialing code number to try and catch you out! I could block the numbers on my mobile but at this rate I would have more blocked numbers than valid numbers.
They do not appear to take any notice of correspondence even though they have received it as the 2nd letter was sent recorded delivery.
I am going to send them another letter this week simply requesting that they stop harrassing me otherwise I will report them to the financial ombusdmen (which I have already threatened them with) and pursue a claim for harrassment!

At the moment vanquish who are owned by prudential are struggling financial and have been for some time and they spent over 50k on debt collection methods this company will be bust in 1 to 2 years and that fact alone pleases me greatly my advise to people getting harassed is make sure you log the number and time and date of call remember over 5 calls aday is classes as harassment
I just simple never answered the phone then after the 50th call with no answer the automated dial class number as dead and please don't ring back cos the computer registers your number as live -

My husband had 2 strokes August last year and and on top of that has recently had more health issues that have obviously prevented him from working. As a result no work means no pay and we cant pay as priority debts need to be paid first. Despite explaining all this I have already received several calls today from various numbers. I give up explaining to the dimwits on the phone who refuse to use almost dying as a valid excuse! Well now we are going to enter into a Debt Relief Order so they wont get a penny and serves them right. They are evil and with the stress of almost losing my husband at aged just 38 we have this added stress to deal with on a daily basis! I have reported them too.

I have just had a reminder pop up on my phone saying call back 0151 345 1729, when I googled the number it came up as vanquis, how have they managed to get this to pop up on my phone, reminders is the built in app from apple, i jave recently got a new phone and new number which hasnt been given to them and this is the phone where this message appeared, surely something can be done about this

I've put 'Trustworthy' to indicate that it is indeed the company that are calling. Actually it isn't. These are simply self employed people who get a commission if they manage to get any money out of you out agree to anything. There are several things you can do:
First of all don't be intimidated. They are just people. Ask them how their day is, what the weather is like where they are, how they are feeling today and so on. Take control of the call, don't let them dictate to you.
Secondly, whoever they ask for just say "hold on a minute and I'll go get him" them out the phone on hold, or mute, and leave it. They will hang up eventually. Alternatively, just hang up.
If you do inadvertently give out your name when you answer the phone, and you do feel intimidated then just say, "Sorry but I don't deal with financial issues over the phone", or alternatively just say "sorry but I am not giving out my personal details over the phone because I have no way of knowing you are who you claim you are". No matter what their reply is, just repeat that sentence, over and over again it necessary. Don't engage in conversation if you don't want to. NEVER agree to past anything, not even a £1 a month because if you do you then have an agreement which is what they're after.
Finally go online and change or edit the phone number on your account. It won't stop the existing calls but if they ever pass it on to a debt collection agency then the account details as they currently read are the details that will be passed on. As an alternative number, put in one of the debt collection agent's numbers :) -

Vanquis bank are among the most unscrupulous callers, there is nothing I have been able to do to convince these thugs to leave me alone. I've been polite at the start, then firm, then rude and finally in desperation as abusive as I can be, but they won't stop calling.

Call daily every month for about a week after I pay my bill. I've never had a missed or late payment, I answered the first few times and they just started oh yeah our system hasn't updated to show your payment I'll do that now... but while you're here do you want this extra service? I never answer now. Trying to pay off off my credit card so that I never have to deal.with this excuse for a company again!

I have had a Vanquis card for a few years, as a contractor I sometimes have periods out of work, but when I am working I'm always up to date - mot recently a contract ended early so I called them, explained and they agreed a reduced payment plan. Since then they have called upto 10 times a day, texts, emails and letters stating I am defaulting on my original agreement.
Unfortunately I have to answer my phone as I am applying for jobs and the call could be in response to that, but each time I get these vultures they accept there is an agreement but state they cannot stop the calls.
THE biggest mistake I have ever made was going to Vanquis - I hope that they go bust. -

I joined vanquis a few months ago, I had no idea how vile the company actually is! I paid 70 pound last month and my minimum payment of 15 pound and I have had 10 calls in the past 3 days. They are sneaky though using up to 7 different numbers. Bare in mind my job salary is only 450 a month and I live in my own house so 70 pound is a huge amount for me to pay. I hope this company fails. It'll cause a lot less problem for me in the long run.

I paid of my Vanquis credit card in full mid December and was told that it would take a couple of days to update their system and that I would receive an email to confirm the account was closed in full and no monies owing. At the end of December I received a letter saying that I was late making a payment and that I had to pay x amount as soon as possible. I naturally called them and explained that I had closed the account (paid off in full) so why had I received the letter. I was told that the department which closes the accounts had not updated the system yet, but their was a sub note on my account stating that it was closed. Today 14 January I have received yet another letter requesting money.
Warning: Do not get involved with Vanquis as they will pester you for the rest of your life. -

Keep getting calls every day off this and other numbers, when I put it into Google, it comes up with vanquis debt collection, I pay my minimum payment and more every month and have no idea why there calling from debt collection, if they shut down in the next two years I would be pleased as I didn't know the hassle I would get by joining with them! What a nightmare

I called this company a few weeks ago and asked to have my 2 year freeze option on my account, I am struggling with my health (chrons) stress related illness and money is tight. I was told I couldn't use this option as I was unemployed.....? Long story short, because someone at their end filled in that I was not working I can't use this option that is attached to my Gold Account! After a long phone call telling them because of their mistake I am unable to get help! Then I have told you I can't pay and because of someone incompetence, I am not going to pay! Reading above comments, I read that this company is in financial trouble....makes me think that no one will be allowed to use this 2 year freeze!!

Having Vanquis was the worst decision I could have made, harassment calls, even though I have entered into an IVA, they know this and so do my other 5 creditors, do I get harassment calls from them, No I do Not, but Vanquis is the worst I have ever been with and because of this my health is suffering more than ever., I am disabled so how they expect me to calmly talk to them, they now hill be lucky to get their full amount back. we keep getting calls from them for someone elses debt- COLIN THOMPSON...we have told them on several occasions that our number was issued last year and the guy they want no longer owns it-ok,records are updated they say,sorry to disturb you they say,won't happen again they say and yet....they keep calling. bloody muppets.

From looking the number up and finding all these comments saying Vanquis - i called Vanquis up asking why a debt collecting agency is harrassing me when I paid off any money oweing last year and wrote a letter of cancellation LAST YEAR! I dont even have a valid in date credit card with them - how could I owe money?! They obviously havent closed my account! Because I cant remember an email address of password from 4 Years ago they will not talk to me about the account! Vultures!! They should be closed down. I have sent a letter now saying I shall be taking legal action for not closing an account, for any fees since incured from them not closing the account and for harrasment! Would be nice to know if anyone else has taken any legal action?

I have fifteen different numbers for Vanquis including this one. They range from mobiles through to local dialling codes. In my case the debt I owe them was sold on to another debt collector a month ago. In spite of that I have two different collection firms, plus Vanquis, all trying to collect on the one debt. They all faithfully insist that they are the only company I should be dealing with. Fortunately I'm not stupid enough to pay them all. Whilst they now fight it out amongst themselves and the financial ombudsman I am not required to pay anything until it's resolved. It makes me wonder how many people fall for this rubbish and pay everyone!

I'm in financial difficulties and even though I'm registered with Step Change and have written to Vanquis explaining my situation and offering a payment plan they keep hassling me. All other creditors have listened, why can't Vanquis? They are truly parasites praying on those in difficulties!

i called vanquis as i have been diagnosed with a life limiting illness and asked to activate my payment plan for illness as i reduced my hours although it hasnt been done.the lovely lady i spoke to told me to hang up on her collegues as they are instructed to chase you till the end of time even asking you to borrow elsewere to pay them. idiots

I too have been plagued by this number, similar times of the day as others. I don't have a credit card with them nor have I ever heard of them. Does anyone know a legitmitate reason for them calling? I am baffled as well as infuriated with them. Have logged complaint with Offcom & ico complaints.

I suffer severe depression and have got myself into a mess financialy so calls from creditors make me 100 times worse. I keep recieving calls from vanquis even though i cant afford to pay them which i have told them. They now phone my house phone and mobile on a sunday. They wont stop calling. I dont want to shy away from paying them, i will pay when i can afford to but to keep calling me isnt going to make me magic money from mid air. Can i get creditors to stop calling and agree to a payment plan? Im also afraid if i agree to a payment plan and give them my bank details they will take what little i actually have to live on.

Sorry to hear of your predicament. Been there myself there is light. Go to CAB there are ways to agree repayment plans with creditors and sometimes get the interest stopped. -

They appear to be trying all tactics here, not only dialing codes from Liverpool, London, etc where they are not local to me but also trying local dialing code numbers and mobiles on the chance that my curiosity will get the better of me and I will answer the call! WRONG...

I have just reported Vanquis to the financial ombudsman. I would suggest others do the same. Or if anyone knows a better route, please post. I am so annoyed. I have made a payment, and don't have another due until the end of the month. Had a long and upsetting conversation with them yesterday explaining how the continued 'courtesy' calls are affecting my stress levels and employment. I need to have my phone switched on for emergencies. I was told I wouldn't receive anymore calls unless I was overlimit/ late with a payment. Again, they have called repeatedly today. Please complain, and then report them:
