Registered on tps but still receiving repeated calls from this number

The call was from 0161 222 8888 allegedly re a survey - I called the number back and there was a message stating that this number had been hijacked by overseas fraudsters.

Phone automatically blocked the number but on phoning it back got a very apologetic message basically saying the number had been hijacked by foreign scammers and that the matter was in the hands of ofcom, just block the number and give absolutely no information whatever to them as it could be used for identity fraud.

I must have had ten calls this last week from a company calling themselves UK Preference. Today's number used was 01612228888. The voice was an Indian male and was very persistent talking over me when I told him to take me off their calling list and to stop calling me. On one day last week I had three calls from this same company within one hour. Most annoying. I had to put my phone down in the end because they would not listen to me. Last week when I was patient enough to listen to the first caller I think they were calling about Surveys.
