Bought an appliance online? They're probably calling about your order.
-
Yes this number is AO.com and yes they do know what you ordered. However this is the 'Sales' end of their organisation so BEWARE (Its probably even a separate company just trading under the same name) . They are calling on the pre-text of your order with AO.com but are very aggressively trying to sell you appliance breakdown cover! Their script is well rehearsed leading you to believe they're on the 'service' side of your purchase and calling about further delivery information. Try ringing them on this number to ask them something about the delivery or change of day or a change to the order... they refer you back to AO.com customer services!! Very underhanded marketing tactics IMO.
Dave replied 2014-08-14 16:46:35Totally agree, had same experience and will be writing a letter to there head office (not that it will do any good)tain replied 2015-06-02 17:16:06They also use the word "free replacement" loosely as well.John replied 2017-08-02 10:41:45Agree totally. Bought a tumble drier last night then at 9.05 this morning they called me, didn't even know my name but knew about the purchase! I cut the guy well short and told him I wasn't interested. Really annoying tactics ! -
This number called me and turned out to be customer services of Online Appliances (OA.com) and was to confirm my online order placed with them the previous day. However the main reason for the call was to try and sell me appliance insurance. The telesales person was very polite and when I declined the insurance, they were not pushy and courteously ended the call.
Dave replied 2014-05-06 12:06:32Agree with this, very nice CSP, confirmed everything, tried to flog the cover but not really worth it for a cooker of £159frank replied 2015-04-02 17:30:45the salesman put the phone down when i said i wasn't buying insuranceMarek replied 2015-04-22 10:29:50I had a call from this number (oa.com) right after my washing machine online purchase. This is a customer service number and purpose of the call is just to make sure that all of the details given to them are right, before goods will be delivered. -
Its a call from AO.com (Appliance Online) -- following up on a recent order and to UPSELL product Insurance.
Their Call Centre placed the call (automatically) as I got an immediate mobile call (within seconds) when I didn't answer my landline.
The caller was very polite and not pushy. -
-
This is the Manchester centre for ao.co.uk (formerly Appliances Online). It'll be to confirm your order/delivery.
-
SO FUCKING ANNOYING !! JUST STOP NOW. Especially when I answer it and the call just cuts off.
-
Just called Ao back, they went through my order with the intension of selling me extra insurance cover.
Took about 5 mins, DONT bother calling them back as you will have already have been e-mailed all the info you need. -
Called soon after I had ordered washer. Tried to sell breakdown cover in a very underhand manner. Only realised when they advised they were arranging direct debit. I made it very clear at that point I did not want it. Put me right off Aol for future purchases.
-
I have received 4 calls from 0160 2350438 this was AO trying to sell me a protection plan for a fridge freezer I bought months ago I told them I did not want this protection plan and they said they would stop ringing me but they still keep calling me Now when I call them I keep getting cut off. How can I stop these calls?
-
Just cause I didn't answer the phone I had a voice mail that said I was a f##king b**ch !!!! I have saved it to my phone and going to my solicitors tomorrow !!!!!!
-
Bought a hob from ao using a credit card. Got call from this number saying they required my bank details in order to 'process' my order. This is two completely separate payment methods which leads me to believe I would of been landed with a dd for unwanted cover had I been foolish enough to hand over the requested details. Beware people. Underhand tactics at play here.
-
I placed an order for over two thousand pounds and paid extra for a timed delivery. My son waited for four hours outside the house - no delivery. It turned out that because the delivery address was not the same as the credit card address, the card was refused. My complaint is that we should have been informed, not left to sit outside waiting for a delivery they had was no intention of delivering. Shame on you ao.com

AO trying to sell...If I wanted to buy something I'd go on their Website.
-
Really nice, glad I bought insurance as it was a £800 item. Really nice and polite, could not decline really.
-
-
AO calling to confirm my delivery for tomorrow. Offered me free package removal and recycling of old machine.
Did not offer me insurance or anything that would be chargeable. -
Having read other comments, I have purchased an appliance but they phoned my house and mobile and both times I got the silent treatment
-
Trustworthy the number is, however they are simply trying to sell you more cover etc which was very annoying as I presumed there was an issue at first with my order thus why I called it back while I was very busy.
-
After delivery of appliance from A.O.com I keep receiving calls from this number several times a day. I had guessed it would be them as I've not had any unknown numbers on my phone until this order. Like others have commented, if I wanted to buy extended cover I would ask for it myself. Disappointed with this type of sales calls.
-
This number calls my mobile then hangs up then calls my landline and then hangs up AGAIN F...... NUISANCS
-
Rang to confirm new appliance delivery time
-
I've just bought a TV from AO.com and this guy was calling me with my exact delivery info. He was quite a nice guy, double confirmed my delivery. THEN there comes the extend warranty option for you.
-
Phoning to discuss online purchase I had made via their website.
-
I have had many phone calls from this number and each time the phone is answered they hang up.This is very annoying
-
If I wanted extended warranty I can do it myself
I've purchased 6 items at different times and every time they have tried to sell me domestic and general insurance
Be aware if you have several new appliances you can have them on the same policy and save money if you contact domestic n general yourself -
Pain in the arse silent call
-
were glad enough to have me buy an item once i said i wasn't setting up for a guarantee just put the phone down
-
I have bought a lot of appliances from AO and have learnt to not answer calls from this number. They must ring it at least 5-10 times a day on landline and mobile. Like many others I don't want to buy warranties or Insurance. I wish there was a tickbox on the order form to decline any marketing calls of this nature.
Bob II replied 2016-08-23 17:25:09I had a very unpleasant call from AO agent who would not take no for an answer when attempting to flog me insurance on a dishwasher - amounted to harassment.
My guess is that AO make more money on Insurance than sales on low-end items such as mine and that the telesales person was being "heavily incentivised" to flog the insurance.
AO blew any chance of repeat business out the water. -
Spoke to a very polite young man about my next day delivery. He did go down the route about insurance said I was not interested and no more mention of it. He seemed very knowledgeable about AO and also informed me that I was entitled to cashback, which I didn't realise. All in all not a bad 4 minutes on the phone.
-
They phone a couple of days after your appliance has been delivered, ask if everything was ok and very cleverly try to sell breakdown cover by making it sound free at first then ask you to confirm your address and bank details to set up a direct debit after being swiftly told where to go they soon said goodbye and hung up
-
AO.com online electronics retailer. Will ring to check recently placed order / delivery details.
-
Rang both my landline and mobile and hung up when I picked up on both. Very annoying.
-
calling to 'confirm' my order with AO.com and also trying to sign me up for appliance cover, free for first month which you then opt out of - but I never opted in!
-
AO.COM calling me at work to read my order back to me. Unneccessary, intrusive and pointless.
-
It's a legitimate call if a little annoying.
I ordered an appliance from AO.com 10 minutes ago. This call is from them confirming delivery details and trying to sell warranty at £6.49 per month. The caller was polite enough, a little pushy but not overly so.
Make sure you firmly decline what they offer though and make it clear that you are declining the offer (if you don't want it). There was a point in the conversation where I felt he was about to confirm I had agreed, when I hadn't. So I say again, make it clear you are declining the offer if you don't want it. -

As someone with mobility difficulties, I struggle to reach my phone. I have had two calls already - both of which have hung up on me. I presume from the above that this is AO phoning me as I recently placed an order?
I think I will cancel my order.
AO have all the details they need to confirm delivery. There really is nothing else that they need to know. They even know how many steps lead up to my front door... I filled it all in online.
So, if the intention is to hard-sell me a warranty when I have expressly stated that I am TPS registered and ex directory, think again AO.
There are plenty of other suppliers out there who don't abuse their customer's privacy.
-
Bit cheeky to phone and hang up. Basically forcing you to pay to call there sales team.
-
Placed an order on AO.com and received a call from this number within 10 mins. When I answered the caller (automated I assume) just hung up - so I assume this is an extended warranty type of call as others have mentioned.
Will happily ignore any other calls from this number - glad I found this website, very useful. -

Called to check delivery details but did indeed try to sell extended warranty. Just said no thanksand they said fine. I do believe that this was a call to try to sell me insurance and not to check the details. I think that there was no need for them to do this. If you get a missed call from them no need to call them back
-
Kept me on the phone confirming delivery address from a item i bought off AO.com
kept me on the phone for 6 minutes before i twigged she was trying to sell me insurance.
Very annoying since i chose to opt of from marketing
