Please everybody DO NOT pay a penny to these scam artists. Tell them to sod off!! If you have said Yes to advertising still DO NOT PAY they will never be able to force a penny out of you so thell them and any debt collectors they "appoint" (it's really just them pretending to be debt collectors usually) the only way they will see a penny is they take you to court which will NEVER EVER happen. Even if they have a recording of you saying yes, They will never take you to court. I have many a time played with these scam artists and even said yes to go along with their scam for a while and listen to amount of rubbish they chat just waiting to trip them up over something. They often call and say they were speaking to you back in 'such a month,' they may even say there are the Police. They will say you agreed to advertise in their publication and it is now ready to go to print. If you challenge them at this point they will say it cannot be cancelled etc. The best course of action at this stage is to thell the guy, in no uncertain terms, where to go. If you would, for some reason, like to be more polite you may ask them to provide proof that they did indeed speak to you previously by way of recording. If you accept that you are going in the publication on the first phone call, usually, a follow up call will be received by another person to 'confirm the details.' At this stage they will probably be recording the conversation in a bid to get you to agree to the terms. Now would be a good time to question the scamartist as to why he must get all your details etc if you have already agreed to the advert. Point out the fact that he is attempting to record a formal agreement and he has been busted. They may well try to use this recording to convince you that you have agreed to adverts when they call you in the future. Even if you have said yes all the way to these Ba*ta*ds NEVER PAY THEM. I have also had lots of the UK Business directory and Google listings related scams. This was the first scam every tried on me (not the company in question, although you never know) and they said a load of rubbish and said some things about my 'google listing' asking if the 'keywords' were correct and if I wanted to make any changes. I had an ad with Yell and was unsure if it was related so just went along with it until they asked me for money. It went along the lines of "Well you have already paid the £199 but the directors are now increasing the time of the ad to 10years," due to some kind of government initiative,"we are just looking to take the final £199 off you today, how will you be paying sir? visa, mastercard, switch or solo?" I questioned the caller as I was certain I had never had previous dealings or ever paid an invoice for anything like that as I personally do the books. I asked the caller when I exactly I had previously paid them but they stumbled and said they would send me an email with all the details and get back to me. After that I fortunatly did some research on scams and became aware of this and a few others. I have had at least 50 calls over the last 4 years all scams, Business directory scams, Police publications....Ha, don't worry your not in trouble.....haha...sorry my mind wandered off there, firewatch, child protection rubbish the lot. I have also had lots of random invoices in the post which are totally laughable!! I have said yes on purpose to these guys and kindly asked they collect the money in cash from my business as I have no bank account as they have frozen it because I am a bit of a dodgy fellow!! I am a purple belt in jiu jitsu and would give those guys much more than their cash believe me!! Unfortunatly they get on to me and never show up :( Also maybe worth mentioning is the calls from the 'Data Protection,' always witheld. Asking if I had anymore of those scam calls I was complaining about? Although I had never spoken to anyone previously from the 'Data Protection' I think this is related to the scams to see if you are ready to receive another call. I always say "No, no never get any" to the caller as I am highly suspicious of these calls also. Also in my opinion TAPA is related to these scams.
