2 pm 13.06.24 call from 01642680768 “my name is Julie, I am calling from your local council and doing a survey about shopping habits”. I was suspicious and hung up, then checked on this site. Caller wasn’t from my council and bogus. Will now block number.

Been getting calls "to request I help in detection of criminal activity by staff at my bank". I have to go to the bank and take out about £2000 or £3000, but invent some reason for needing that money. Then I call back and get next instruction - to package that money and send it to a given address - "Don't worry - the money will be safe, and be returned when the investigation is over." The entire thing sounded plausible but I spotted it in time. I reported the first attempt to the bank and police - but calls were from untraceable temporary phone cards. Further such attempts on me have been tried. So I guess on others, too, who may not spot the trick. And it probably sometimes works - otherwise why more such attempts?
I also note that at first the caller's area-code number display was an unrecognised area, but now the display is of a number in my own area.
