Bryan Adams!!!! oh yes the man himself called me twice from microsoft - like other posts with Indian accent to tell me about the virus infecting my PC and asked if I did e banking. Kept saying "I am calling about your computer" to which I said nothing - then we would say are you there and repeat himself all over again - obviously wanting me to agree that I had a computer. Asked him for IP address of PC he thought was infected and he hung up!
oldSteve replied 2015-05-15 15:03:15just had the same phone call - love it. Let him talk on and on, then asked him what type of computer I had, he said Windows operating computer, I said "no". . . . he the hung up -

Sharon calling from Microsoft. Your pic is at risk from hackers and we need to access it.

Just hang up, microsoft have never ever rang anybody and in fact dont need to as it is up to the user to get a free or paid for virus protector, and there are plenty of free ones on the net, also it is not the end of protecting just coz u have a virus protector, it is down to common sense, the sites you visit and if you bother scanning a file BEFORE opening it in the first place.

I have received a number of calls from this number today (mid-May '15) with them disconnecting prior to picking up the hand set. However the local radio highlighted the existencein whichthe local area during the previous few days of a banking telephone scam.. My attempts to return this number attempt to contact me has failed.

Called me on 1st May 2015, Indian man who said his name was Charles. Tried to get me to give him remote access to my computer. Claimed to work for Microsoft which was a lie.
-

These are scammers and criminals. They try to get you to install viruses and trojans on your computer, then they tell you they have found viruses and trojans which weren't there until they installed them! Next, you've guessed it, they will offer their services to uninstall the viruses for a fee. Once hooked, they will keep infecting your computer, and keep extorting money out of you.
If they call, just say you don't have a computer or internet.
Had a call from these gits soon after I bought a Dell laptop. Obviously Dell are passing on your personal details to them, as it was too much of a coincidence, and they knew too many personal details. -
Called twice today by this number, but when we answer they hang up. Do they think we're dumb enough to ring them back at our expense, or do they just enjoy their Government-Given right to annoy everyone? Presumably they are determined not to allow us the peaceful enjoyment of our own homes - that same "Human Right" that they themselves would expect?
Abuse of the telephone system should result in massive fines for the companies involved, and custodial sentences for their managers. -
01642878714 - rang and said I had a virus on my computer. The caller said his name was David Millar - with an Asian accent! I told him not to be so silly.
-
Just received a call regards an error with my computer. Seems ok to me! When I questioned who he was, his company name, he got shirty, said he was only calling me to advise me he would call again tomorrow as he was going home now. I've just blocked his number, so won't be ringing our landline again.
-
Microsoft never ring you in less you request a call from them so do not fall into the con they get you to fill it in to get bank details. Scam
-
Called saying they were from Microsoft. Tried to get me to access my PC as the administrator. I went along for a while. Asked her name... she said she was called "Sarah Jones". I said, "that's a nice welsh name, why have you got an Indian accent?" She hung up.

We were in bed so we did not here it ring this morning I Google the phone number and saw all of these

Just had a phone call at 11 o'clock at night. Said they were from Microsoft and it was very important as I my computer was going to crash. Asked her what she was playing phoning me at as that time of night. Told her she was talking rubbish, not to phone me again and perhaps I should phone the police. Needless to say she hung up. Wish there was a law to stop this vermin!
SirsmilerIV replied 2015-06-06 13:32:29There will never be a law to stop these sort of calls, for 2 simple reasons.
1. The phone companies make money from every land line set up, so they won't do anything that could stop their profits.
2. The politicians of this country won't do anything to stop them, on account of the fact that they are all completely spineless and afraid of upsetting the do gooders.
And you notice these calls are always made by immigrants with a foreign accent, even when they do try and use an english name. They should be arrested and shot without warning as they are very annoying -
I had a silant call at 10.17 from this number in the evening my kids were awoken !! Not happy parent!!
-
Called late in the evening, 10:09pm, woke daughter (and wife). Didn't speak just hung up when I picked up. This is harassment - especially such calls late at night.

Had problems with a laptop & desktop.talked with my supplier in Thailand who advised getting an asus x555. An hour later this number called telling me I had problems & I fell for it. I let them in they pointed out what was wrong & how they could fix it for £195. I refused then they set up a password to gain entry on both computers. I had to pay a tech co to release the desktop but the laptop would have cost too much to clean. Be aware!
Mancunian_Nick replied 2015-04-21 17:35:51Download a program from Google called Malwarebytes. It's free! Run it on your laptop and it should clear whatever they put on. You could also go to control panel > Programs & Features (or similar depending on what operating system you have) and look for any programs you don't recognise/haven't installed yourself and delete them, although I'd suggest that as a last resort. Good luck and hope it clears it up for you. -
They told me they were from Microsoft & it was about my computer. I don't think Microsoft call people if they think they have a problem you get an onscreen notification. I was therefore wary & told them I have telephone preference & to remove me from their list immediately. I also saw comments online about this number so blocked the number from our phone system.

Scam telling me she (indian lady) was from Microsoft and Had found a security risk on my pc...
My wife had at this point handed me the phone (11.15pm!!!) And as i was already aware of this scam abused her greatly before hanging up. :-)

Tried to call me to say my computer was infected.
I asked them some basic questions about what system I was using and they couldn't answer.
SCAM SCAM SCAM, -
the code '01642' is local to me so I thought it may be someone I knew. A male with a foreign poss African ? accent told me he was from Microsoft and I they had detected a problem with windows..I have a Mac computer so don't use windows anyway - I would have loved to stay on the phone and wind him up but I couldn't be bothered - maybe next time! I often say my computer is in the next room - can they wait while I go and turn it on etc etc - incidentally I did not buy my lap top from Currys / PC World and have not bought anything from them , so perhaps that it not the connection?
-
this number rang me today saying they were JAMES MORGAN from microsoft and i had a virus on my computer, i informed him i wanted his name and address as the Police had informed me he was operating a scam, he hung up. this was the 4th such call since buying a new laptop from currys recently, it is my belief that someone is supplying details of new computer sales to these con artists, from the where I bought the laptop.
-
guy said that he was ringing me because my pc had sent error reports to microsoft and that he was ringing me to fix the issue i just said microsoft don't share that information and would send me an update to fix it within 8 working days and even thou i told him 3 times i am a cisco accredited bench technician he still argued with me he worked on there behalf
-
I was told by the Indian accented caller that he was from Microsoft and they had been receiving data that suggested my computer had major problems: possibly due to having been hacked.
I always have strong internet security in place so I knew this was rubbish.
To shut the guy up I told him I earn my living as a computer technician and I would know if there was anything wrong. (I am NOT a qualified technician, but I have used computers since the 1990s and during that time I have built several systems from scratch, so I do know my way around when it comes to computers).
He tried to tell me the problems were deeply seated within the registry and therefore required expert technical intervention.
I told him that I know just as much, if not more than him about computer systems. At this point he said to me, and I quote "Don't give me all that f***ing bullshit! Get off the phone!"
I could not help laughing out loud at that, and then reminded him that HE had phoned ME and if anyone should get off the phone it was him: as he was obviously a scammer and did not like it because he had met his match in me.
Needless to say, he hung up. -
Make told me problem with my Microsoft. Hung up when I said didn't ahve a computer
-
So they are using a spoof caller id, these can be bought on the internet, perhaps these sites should be closed down and certainly the search engines should not "find" these sites. I've spent 40 years in the IT business and all my PCs have strong anti-virus and ant-hacking software.

rings me at least 3 times every day, getting very tiresome.Same times every day breakfast lunch and dinner times, even considering change of telephone number.
-
Claimed to be from 'computer maintenance department' Said I used Linux so why do they keep bothering me about a supposed problem with Windows. Hung up, dialled 1477 to log as a malicious call. Then dialled number back and got BT's number not recognised message - so they're munging the CLID.
-
Received a call this morning from this number. He said he was from Microsoft and there was a problem with my computer. I told him I didn't own one ( which I don't ), but he then went in to quote my husbands name and said he was registered as owning a computer. He then asked to speak to my husband, told him he was at work, but fibbed and said he was an IT Specialist and I would get him to look at it. The guy ( foreigner) then asked which company my husband works for. During the course of the call I asked him 4 times where he had got my number. He wouldn't tel me. I finally said don't call this number again, and hung up. Over the last year or so we have had a number of calls like this. What really worries me is that my elderly father may get scammed by them.
-
Called late in the evening. Didn't leave a message on answerphone. When I called back the number was unavailable. This is harassment - especially such calls late at night.
-
I work for currys pc world and we are having a lot of customers calling in about this. Microsoft would never call you, they are trying to either - obtain your ip address, upload malicious software - or tell you for a "small fee" they can fix the problem - they are hoax callers - never give out personal details - if there was ever anything wrong with your computer your anti virus would detect this. Microsoft would never call you, thanks.
-
Rings twice a day. Hangs up after 4 rings so I often don't get to the phone in time. Caller ID recall tells me. FFS - I worked in IT management and support and know that Microsoft NEVER rings you.
If this phone number keeps calling you, the answer should be yes!
