Frequently calls me, sometimes rings off before I pick up the phone, (not that I would pick it up as I recognise it from previous calls as a scammer). If the answering machine picks up then they never leave a message. Other people report it as an Indian call centre running various scams including the "your computer is infected" fraud.

I've had about 4 such calls over past month. Heavy Indian accents each time. Trying to tell me that my computer has virus, etc etc. I asked today for more identification info, & also where they were based. The female caller said "Chicago". I responded: you are telling me that you are calling me at around 05.00/06.00 Chicago time? Was it that urgent? She immediately slammed the phone down.
Avoid them - slam the phone down or blow a (strident) whistle in their ears.

Silent call, again. Reading all the entries I am concerned that BT and wittingly or unwittingly involved - and certainly not prepared to do anything about it. This is harassment in our own homes.

next time they call blow a whistle down the phone at them, if you have time waste their time. My record for wasting time cost them nearly an hour. I had to much time on my hands that day, but you can still talk and dust. -

I got a phone call the other day and they said my computer has a virus I replied with hmm it's ok I have virus protection and I love him he then said what I then said I love you and he hung up and not had a phone call since they love it if you get upset say something to put them off eg talk about football and just stay in your topic and just ask them random personal questions it works

02031291891 - have just received a series of call from these con men. Tried telling them to f##k off and hanging up - when I questioned them as to WHO they are the would only say they are the "world wide web server" . I actually run a hosting company - and told them this thinking they would give up as I am not susceptible to their con, but that only resulted in a further call from the "MANAGER"
UNBELIEVABLE PERSISTANCE !!!! If you receive a call from them just leave them on hold until they give up -

caller said she was ringing about our windows server I told her our grandson is a computer scientist and he sort out our computer. this is actually almost true as he is studying at uni with a promise of a job in computers after graduation. nice one grandson

Some creep with a very guttural Indian accent called me, did not identify himself or his company, did not ask for me by name; did not say anything other than "hello sir, I'm phoning about your computer problem." I know this con so replied with, "oh, really? What computer problem?" He continued with, "yes sir, your computer problem ..." to which I noted, "well, friend you've reached a restricted number and I'm logging this call for further investigation --" and that is as far as I got because he instantly disconnected. With any luck there is some Indian sitting in a London office someplace worried now that he has been noticed. I recommend you all do the same, and maybe these cowboys will get the message. The number he called from was 0203 129 1891 and yet when I went to block it, it was unblockable and gave the last number (known to me) who called me, and which I did not wish to block; so had to dial that number in manually to block it on my BT phone.

Asian/African scam group trying to gain access to computer - I asked the lady if she would like to talk to the police officer visiting the house - guess what - the call was terminated.
BT/Virgin & all other telecoms should have the steel to block these numbers 100% but they don't have the sense to. -

Silent call when answering phone at work with company name. Maybe they are not speaking because we are a company and maybe they are targeting home owners. Don't like the calls as regular now and freaking me out even though they are silent. Not surprised when I found this web-site that it is a untrustworthy number.

had a call today and them silence.

i hung up and this was followed by a chester. code 01244564141which i answered.
An Indian sounding man said he was from the telephone protection service.
He asked if i was getting nuisance calls and i said yes.
He said if i paid him £300 with a card payment they would stop.
I said absolutely not and he was abusive.
Oh you like nuisance calls then he said.
I hung up
I think there calls are connected - they are criminals and need to be stopped.
I feel powerless to do anything other than warn more vulnerable people.

This caller pretended to be from Microsoft Windows,warning about my computer being infected.Indian speaking and said he was calling from California,gave me a csid number which is used by scammers but could not tell me which system of windows i was using,two guesses and both wrong,started threatening to shut my computer down when i refused to cooperate.

Glad I looked up this number - thanks for the reports on here. Just had a call from this number - just silence at other end of line I was concerned it might be a family member who was unable to get through - did 1471 and rang back - message to say the number was not in use?!Then realised it was a London code, again wondered if it was a family member trying to get hold of us, but came across this site and the previous comments. Many thanks to all those submitting them.

I too got call from this number but was out so missed the call. Starting to think it is something to do with BT and them trying to make you buy one of their nuisance call blocker phones by giving you nuisance calls. I started getting lots of these calls after signing up with BT and my new number is supposed to be ex-directory so really I shouldn't be getting these calls. But I must say I did buy one of the phones and they do work when set to block calls you don't want.
I've had people trying to sell me boilers, hearing aids and an Italian lady doing a food survey and people asking for someone else I've never heard off and then they try and speak to me instead!. -

I been getting call from these guys on a daily basis and also from another number 0002030264051, both of these claim to be from Microsoft Security Dept. I wont allow them to access my computer at all, I suggest everyone does the same as they are I believe this is just a scam to get your data.

They called back a few hours later insisting my computer had to be sorted. I asked how knew he was genuinely from Microsoft and he said "because I am". Hmmm! I hung up

Getting numerous calls from these fools. Claiming to be from Microsoft Windows Technical dept who have detected error messages from my computer allegedly being sent to the International Routing Dept. I do enjoy keeping them on the line and playing along with it and then point out I dont have a PC I have a MAC, or I am in a Prison or you have rung the house of a murder victim hold the line while I trace your call etc etc...

Calls started from this and other "India" numbers, Started off with usual computer scam at first, then silent when answered!
Whilst they tried the computer scam on us they even had the last four numbers from our BT account,
"ARE PEOPLE WHOM ARE WORKING FOR BT INDIA PASSING SOME OF OUR DETAILS TO SCAMMERS"???? -

Have received a numbe of calls from this number but now having caller ID I just do not answer the call. Itis still a pain in the proverbial ut unless you wish to purchase a new telephone with number blocking facilities you have to put up with the clls. BT, ICO, TPO and our politicians are all a complete waste of time and will do nothing even if you point out it could be their aged parent that falls rushing to answer the phone hoping its a relative. It happened to my relative followed by six months hospitalisation because some one wanted to sell PPI
