A company called 'Motor Investigations' telephoned me at 5.58pm on 6th Oct 2016. Supposedly calling regarding a claim in the past 12 months. (I've not made a claim in the last 12 years!!). Told him I had not made a claim. The man then said that maybe my vehicle had been damaged by a third party possibly in a car park by someone banging their car door into my parked vehicle. My reply was no that has not happened, He then said maybe be someone has damaged your wing mirror by driving too close to your car, My reply was I don't have any damaged wing mirrors. His then came up with his third scenario, which was perhaps someone has damaged your car when they have been reversing out of their car parking space. My reply, there is no damage to my car. So he then changed tack (and his 4th scenario)...........perhaps you were a passenger in another vehicle that is the subject of a claim. I told him that I haven't been in a another car that has been involved in a claim, The man then said (5th scenario),,,,,,,maybe you partner or a family member is making a claim and they haven't mentioned it to you, Perhaps you were a passenger in a friends car and that car has been damaged and they are claiming (6th scenario!). Can you think of any incident like that? I told him no, nothing like that has happened. So his next suggestion (and 7th scenario!) was......... perhaps a named driver on your policy has had a minor incident and are claiming? I told him that there are no named drivers on my policy. He then said perhaps the incident was longer than 12 months ago. I replied no.....I think you are calling regarding trying to get me to make a claim, which your company will process on my behalf and then your company will take a cut of any monetary value of the claim. You are phishing for a claim that doesn't exist. His reply was that he doesn't fish and that he doesn't look like a fisherman and that he is doing his job to provide for his wife and kid. I was now bored by this phone call, and told him that I am TPS registered, that he should not be calling me, that his call to me was unsolicited and that my number should be removed from his database and NOT to call me again. I then added that maybe he should try the sport of fishing because his wife and kid might enjoy a day out in the fresh air!!
