I have received two calls from Appliance Serve. Informing me that my Indesit washers warranty has expired, they know this as I told them it is already covered by a Domestic and General insurance plan. They have told me they have a "Special Offer" with over 50% off and will be much cheaper that D&G, But after reading the comments on here. I will not be taking up this offer.

    Warren t replied 3/26/16, 11:22 AM
Domestic and general are not an insurance company to start off, they are a warranty company.
So because you've read some bitter people reviewing on here you won't take up a better and cheaper warranty.
These are the sort of people that also go on trip advisor and badly review a hotel because the towels were not fluffy enough.
I can guarantee domestic and general have more and worse reviews online than appliance serve

My 81 year old father was tricked into setting up a direct debit for his 4 year old Indecit. (June 2016)He realised the day after he was covered by another policy, so he cancelled the direct debit at the bank and wrote a letter to Appliance Serve as well as calling them by phone. A man said no problem he would sort it. July 2016 - he is getting reminders about a missed payment and a telephone call threatening court action! Bring it on!! #fraudsters

Trading Standards gave me this template to send -

    Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013

    Dear Sir or Madam

I am writing to you with regards to the service contract that was agreed with yourselves on 27 June 2016 by my father who has, as you know, given me consent to discuss this matter with you. As you are aware from a telephone conversation on 2 September 2016 and a letter dated 11 August 2016, my father made cancellation of this contract on 28 June 2016 by telephone and in writing to yourselves. In spite of this cancellation you have continued to demand payment from my father.

As mentioned in the telephone conversation, further legal advice was sought and it has come to light that under the above piece of legislation, you should have provided my father with 14 days to cancel the contract. As you have only provided 7 days this has breached the legislation and now given my father the right to cancel for up to 12 months and 14 days. This letter is receipt of that cancellation.

The above legislation also states that a charge for cancellation cannot be made, so my father will not be making any payment to yourselves and I am giving you 14 days to respond to this letter at the above address.

Trading Standards are aware of their illegal practice.

After 8 weeks of phoning them on their 08004118899 no taking their names etc asking for a refund (letters returned) it finally got refunded. It's a pain but keep hassling them & being persistent. I'm now going to Trading Standards & Telephone Preference company to report them.

I bought a policy... £175 for 3 years. Unfortunately my washer broke down after about 3 months. My only issue is the length of time it takes to be sorted..3 weeks or so.. would have cost them less to send me a new machine. I can safely say I've had my money's worth . Oh a month later handle broke.. was without machine for 2 weeks that time. Anyway. It's saved me a fortune!!!

    They now have a new number - 0800 4 11 88 99.
Like many others I took out 3 years cover on a machine I no longer have. Tried cancelling over the phone but was informed I had to write in to obtain a refund.
Did that a week ago but no confirmation of received so I tried phoning several times this morning but after seven minutes a voice says "Goodbye" and the call terminates.
Judging from the ringing it is on a hunt group but nobody picks up.
Looks like CAB is the next stop.

I wrote to Appliance Serve within 7 days of taking out the extended warranty and have the Royal Mail proof of delivery.
    To date they haven't responded.
I wrote again to the address on the Plan Schedule but my letter was returned to me marked 'Return to Sender' even though they had opened it and must have read it.
I have now sent the letter to their Fulham address but I'm not holding my breath for a reply.
my next move is to report this to the Consumer Ombudsman.

Another nuisance call I was about to hang up on but then they seemed to know about my hotpoint washing machine which was apparently about to run out of insurance. I was led to believe I was paying £58 for the 3 year policy. The only thing which stopped them was that I didn't have enough in the account for the £175 the telemarketer was actually trying to put through!!! After I got cold feet and tried to back out he had already tried the one year cover for £75 without clearing it with me first!!!
Still no confirmation letter after 7 days which would have allowed me the option to cancel! Numerous phone calls only to be told "unfortunately the person you need to speak to is unavailable...can we have your name and number for them to call you back"!
My bank tells me that Appliance serve have had the audacity to actually set up my card account for future payments which means they planned to take more money from me!! I got that blocked immediately!!
    I'm going to CAB!!!

The person seamed to know about my Hotpoint purchases and gave the impression that hes was actually from Hotpoint. I took out the cover and cancelled an existing cover with Legal and General. When I wanted a repair doing and contacted Hotpoint they arranged the repair and then told me I had no cover in place and billed me. I contacted Appliance serve and they were in complete denial about posing as Indecit and are refusing to pay the repair.

Cold called my 86 year old confused mother and sold her £175.00 3 year plan by asking for her debit card number. I phoned 2 days later and cancelled the policy. I was asked to also cancell by post which I did the same day, well within the allowed cooling off period. After many phone calls and many excuses later,( ie I was told to wait till the paperwork arrived) the promised refund still hadn't arrived 3 weeks later when I was informed It was now too late to cancel. When I asked them to check my previous calls to them which I assume we're recorded,we were informed this was not possible. Very convenient! Spoke to the manager who eventually agreed to refund the money, minus £25.00 for late cancellation fee! Mum went to check her account today- surprise! No refund. I am reporting to trading standards. My advise-DO NOT deal with this company. Show less

They took 175 pounds out of her account on tuesday (24 May). I have just contacted appliance serve requesting a full refund but was told that someone will have to phone me back tomorrow but more likely tuesday as it's a bank holiday weekend. Apparently, the girl i spoke to is on her own in the office, so she can't sort this for me nor can she pass me to a superior. The telephone caller told me that the Hotpoint company had informed him that my Hotpoint washing machine warranty had run out and he could renew it at the cheapest rate of £175 for 3 years. I don't have a Hotpoint washing machine. I have never had a washing machine.

    Hi Nigel

Currently being a customer of ApplianceServe, I can assure you that they are not scammers or looking for data. They are a legitimate business and a reliable, professional one at that. Sorry to sound abrupt but you are wrong - In your case, I'm assuming that they just had some incorrect data, which happens from time to time and is completely normal.
    All the best
    Mr C Crowdy - Hants.

I've just had a phone call from a Nick Crowdy from Applianceserve on that number, also telling me that my Bosch washing machine is out of warranty (I've never had a Bosch washer.) I Googled the name and number and wound up here. A relative of yours, Mr. Crowdy?
    Employee replied 12/30/15, 1:19 AM
No one called Nick Crowdy works for or has worked for Applianceserve.
I suspect Jim Thomas that you are trying to stir up a non existent hornets nest.
