apparently my computer is sending out error reports to Microsoft, don't think a Mac sends anything to Microsoft!
-
.
The person who called me said she was from M$ and "your computer was sending errious....." at that point i polity said "you are a lying cucking custard and i wont let you into my computer"
i think i managed to get as far as let you, when she hung up :)
normaly i just kept them talking, as that means they waste their time and call cost and some one else avoids being rung for some time.
but she caught me at a bad time. An eye lash has been anoying me all night and day, so i was in a no mercy mood.

Automated message trying to sell me something a number of times now. I hang up without listening to it.

Computer Control Scam.

faked microsoft SCAMMERs

A slightly increased frequency of calls from this number has been experienced in October; it used to be fortnightly or so but now is every few days, with occasionally multiple calls per day. It is somewhat irritating but not agressive behaviour - just rather difficult to understand why the same number would be worth calling so often given the negative response we have been making.

Indian chap called up saying that he was from Microsoft and that my PC was having technical issues. I knew, of course that this was a con but I wanted to see how he would go about doing it. By asking me to run a couple of commands (the Windows event viewer and msconfig) he tried to imply that errors I was getting on my PC (of which there are thousands in every event viewer in my experience) will confirmation that indeed my PC had a serious issue and luckily he was there on behalf of Microsoft to help me.
Then he tried to access my PC by asking me to visit a variety of websites (such as teamviewer.com, showmyPC .com etc). Sadly, it's becoming a more current problem, especially for people who don't understand that this is a scam and a con to try and get access to your PC to enable them to plant key logging software, malware or a combination of both to discover your financial details and anything that they can actually steal from you.
I can't help feeling sorry for the poor mug on the end of the phone but for anyone who isn't particularly PC literate, I can 100% guarantee you that nobody from any software/PC company will call you up out of the blue to try and help you with any supposed technical problem. It's hard enough trying to get them to help you with your problem when 'you' actually call 'them'. The most sensible thing to do is just to simply hang up. -
foreign caller saying he was from a law firm about a car accident (untrue)
I have been getting those "computer error" calls for years so I blocked all international calls. I think they are all now using this number for their various scams.so I blocked it also.92gaw -

Been calling me several times a day, foreign voice, won't say who they are, get abusive if I ask fir their name. Now started making silent calls.
-
Have been receiving silent calls for a few weeks, then just now received a call from this number. Asian man claiming to be from an accident claim company. Said my car had been in a bump (his word) and that I may not have reported it because it was small. I said 'are you telling me my car was in an accident?' (Interesting since I don't own a car! I didn't let him know this) I said to him to give me his name and company name so that I could inform the police that my details were being used fraudulently. All of a sudden he says that he is a solicitor and would call again in a few weeks and promptly put the phone down on me.

I've had a number of calls from this number now and each time I answer the caller hangs up. It occurred to me that as soon as they hear a man's voice they hang up. (I'm not being sexist by the way!)

Sounded like an Asia gentleman called, and he said he has tracked my computer using windows. I said Ok and then he said switch on your computer. I said I use Macbook and not windows then he said I will transfer you to my MAC Dpt. I told him you mentioned it was Windows computer but he did not bother to hear what I said and transferred me to his colleague. His colleague who already knew my name mentioned you have been transferred to MAC Dpt. and told me to switch on my computer. I said why, who is he, and where is he calling from etc and he just hung up. I think this gang is serious web thieves. He did not continue further otherwise I would have tried to get what he wants. May be he was trying to install he spy software while I was browsing. I tried calling him back but he never replied and showed busy. What a miss I will record his voice next time and share it with all. Stupid phishing scam

Called 02/10/14 - Offering free insulation and new central heating system paid "out of Government funding"
Steven replied 2014-10-16 13:09:10I suspect that this is what my missed call was going to be about. This is this months flavour of the month for them to call me about.
If I get that far I might arrange for them to do my free surve and discover for themselves that the mains gas is 100m and £40k away from the house... and then ask them to install and connect up my replacement boiler for the advertised 'from £20 a month" that this mornings automated call offered -
