Don't ever buy from Laithwaites and give them your 'phone number! I receive calls from this telemarketing company two, three or even four times on some days. Is this a sign of desperation in these hard times? The calls are now blocked so these pests never get through.

Good company, great wine, swift delivery, personal approach with repeat customers. They phone every three months or so but are quite happy to be told we don't need any wine right now and be given a date to phone again. Nothing aggressive about their sales pitch and every now and again you get a nice free gift or extra bottle. They are the same thing as Sunday Times Wine Club.

Yes they are trying to sell their wines and usually because you have purchased from them in the past under one of their trading names, which allows them to as they are not a cold call. Either tell them to remove you from their list and/or just block the number on your phone.

Laithwaites number saying I'm on there club wine list. I'm not. If you want to be removed they said to call freephone no: 0800 665430 and they remove you in 24 hours. Called and left my number as per instructions, Had no calls since.

rang 4 times today but I let it go to answer machine, no message left, each time I`ve done the 1471 and its Laithewaithe`s presumably trying to sell me more wine. I placed my first on line order with this company just before Christmas (36 bottles of wine) 4 days after Christmas I got a call from them trying to sell me more, which I declined. They have pestered me 3 or 4 times a day almost every day ever since.Aargh!!! pass the wine somebody!!!

I have been a Laithwaite's customer since the days of the railway arch in Windsor, and have thought the world of them. This sort of disgraceful behaviour from them surprises and disappoints me enough to boycott them.

I have bought wine online from Laithwaites and others, so not surprising they keep in touch; I've never had a problem with this company - and it's a well-known and respected brand, so what's the problem?

I believe this is Laithwaites and they keep calling and leaving no message. For information, you don't need to be a Laithwaites customer - they seem to use the same database as other wide companies like Sunday Times, Rude Wines and others, so if you have ever bought wine nline, don't be surprised if they call. I don't usually answer but on the odd occasion I have, I just tell them I don't need any wine thanks, and politely end the call before they get a chance to launch into their sales pitch.

Haven't answered but I am a member of Laithwaites. Very persistently calling - three times today as well as numerous times over the last few weeks. They have never left a message so it's presumably a sales call rather than an important/legitimate issue with my existing wine plan.

have been getting these calls regularly, once daily for several weeks. I usually ignore the call when my caller display shows this number. Last week I rang 1471 for the hell of it and got a recorded message -your wine club tried to contact you. I am actually a Laithwaites member and use them when I want to order wine. These calls seem to be part of a wider push to bring in more sales. However the recorded message also gives you an other number to ring if you wish not to receive further calls. This is 0800 665430 and calling this takes you to the Laithwaites Removal Service, no less. It's automated so there's no pesky human trying to flog you stuff. You then enter the number you don't wish to be called by - our pal 02075 365077 - and within 24 hours all calls should cease. So far so good. I've not had any repeat calls. It's a lot more fun than whining about cold callers.
