Called by 02078909051 Saturday afternoon. Well spoken English accent. Said he called on behalf of Yorkshire Bank. No one has ever phoned me from the bank before. I told him so and that i was sceptical. He seemed to understand. I let him continue with the usual Ts&Cs. Then came first question. "Is your account souly yours or a joint account.
I told him I was uncomfortable and put the phone down.
BE VERY WARY. -

Call from fast sopeaking female with Sth London accent. Said she had been asked by RBS to do satisfaction survey. Then asked if I was driving as she had rang my mobile number. Then asked if I had an account with RBS. !!!! I said if I did she would already know. Scam call if you ask me asking for finacial detauils.
DO NOT ANSWER THEM. BIG SCAMKate replied 2017-11-04 17:45:16Exactly the same as above but foreign male caller, asked for me by my full name saying RBS had given them my details and was I driving etc, I said I'm currently working but agreed to them calling me later - which they did but I did not answer sensing this was some kind of scam. I am worried they have my full name and insisted my bank gave my details which I do not believe. Also multiple calls from very similar numbers which I refuse to answer. SCAM!!!! -
Person was incredibly nervous on the phone. I thought he's trying to somehow commit bank fraud
Talking about a branch visit to Marks and Spencer bank and all they had was phone number. I'll be very unhappy if I found M and S selling our details.
Person raised alarm bells he was so so nervous he said his name was something like nihab the company he said he was calling from was GDCC (on behalf of GfK) -
Had my full name and he said was doing a survey about relationship managers at HSBC. Sounded posh and confident, said that it would only take three to four minutes and wouldnt ask personal details. He also named my relationship manager, which means they must have info from my bank including my landline. I said to email it to me and he said they didn't do email surveys. I phoned the bank and though they claimed they would never give out my personal info to third parties they said they needed to look into it to see if it was fraud or not. Really annoying if they do pass on my info but worrying if they didn't and fraudsters have access to it.

Rang asking if they were through to the company that we acquired last year. Wanted to speak to business owner to talk about trends. I advised them that they would need to send through their request via E-Mail due to no names policy. Said they'd call back but advised them that they'd still not get through. No introduction no nothing.

called me on a Saturday, on behalf of HSBC, easy solution to this close the HSBC account, if HSBC giving my number out, then they have had their day, and today was it, bye bye HSBC
coolity replied 2017-06-24 16:42:50Idiot. These calls are NOTHING TO DO with HSBC, they are numbered selected at random and are usually scams. You can se from the comments below that they are not linked to HSBC, I get the call too and I have NEVER had an HSBC account. It's no wonder that's are so many of these scams around when the mentality of the people they are calling is as low as this. -
I received a call from +442078909051. I demanded to know who it was, the male caller informed me that it was 'generic market research' about finance and that all information I gave would be 'classified'. I asked where they had got my number from as I live in a European country and not UK. He claimed they were going through the phone book to get numbers. I told him my number was a mobile and not in the phonebook and that I would not be answering any questions and I hung up. DO NOT ANSWER ANY OF THEIR QUESTIONS, total scammers.
-
Phoned 4pm on a Sunday and asked for me by name. Said she was from HSBC and did I know my manager? She gave me a name I have never heard of. As I was unable to help her she hung up.

Many missed calls from this number as after the first one checked here and decided not to answer. Minimum 2 per day for the last week. Will they ever give up?

Got a few calls from this crowd and despite not answering them and leaving two voice messages at the number they called me from telling them not to call me, they still persisted.
Found out today that they are a marketing/survey company and that they were calling me for a financial survey.
I rang their HEAD OFFICE at + 44 20 7890 9000 and got chatting with one of their managers.
Gave me some excuse as to how they randomly picked my number even tho I am ex-directory etc., and living in Ireland.
Their website is: www.gfk.com and there is a contact page where you can email them and ring them etc. Got my number blocked but just in case....Paul replied 2015-09-21 16:06:17GFK - Growth From Knowledge - are a survey company who affiliate with others to do web surveys. They pay for surveys (not very well!), usually you have to sign up to them, a lot of survey companies cold call, now they're getting abuse etc, the genuine ones are moving away from it. -
I'm in Ireland. They said they were some institute in the UK taking a survey on behalf of the EU. Asked them how they got my number and they said it's randomly dialed. I hung up.

caller asked if i was "firstname lastname". I don't reply to questions like that from strangers without info about them first. I asked who and what the caller was but was told "they can't disclose that information", whereupon I hung up immediately. I regard phoning up anonymously as harrassment. One phone map I saw placed the caller location near Trafalgar Sq in London - dont know if this is accurate or somw kind of misdirection.

ubermensch replied 2014-07-06 13:00:48I was called on a Sunday at about 11.35 am and they told me they needed my help on their research on the state of the economy. I told them that I was an idiot and had no opinion on anything. Good bye.

had over the last days many calls from them, they just don't give up, they say they are calling on behalf of a consumer customer service, when I asked which one, they did not want to say and said that I would have to identify myself first. I told them if you don't tell me for which service this allegedly is, I don't tell you who I am.
