Received an unexpected call to my barely used ex directory landline. Sounded female, possibly an Indian accent. Said she was from Online Support Ltd, based in York Street, London. Said they were working with Windows and had detected suspicious activity in a server, associated with my PC.
Asked if my PC had had Windows updates recently. She couldn't explain how she got my number, just kept repeating the Windows/server/PC rhetoric. Suspect she would have stripped my personal info, gained remote access and installed malware given the chance. Was unprofessionally rude at one point, with "as I've already told you..." which was a giveaway. Also I know there's no way they could have ascertained my landline number. A real company with the name Online Support, based in Brentford, has a warning of cold calling cams on their website. This lot are likely to use their immoral tricks successfully on someone vulnerable along the way.
