I had several calls from this number. every time I answered they hang up. today I heard a distant voice of someone, even unrecognisable if man or woman, but they said hi, then there was a silence. I don't know what is the idea behind it??? I have just blocked it

Was calling, had all the wrong details about me, was after another name, but then decided they'd try with their spiel anyway.
Not sure if it's genuine or not, but was trying to get me interested in smart meters for my gas/electric.
I told them I was on direct debit and that swiftly ended the call. -

They keep calling me, sometimes every few minutes! I answered the last call and it was an automated voice stating it was some consumer group and that there were no advisors available to take the call and to try again later. They called me!! What company just makes incessant phone calls when they don't have someone available if the call is answered?! I've now blocked. I must say that it's rather frustrating that these companies have started using mobile phone numbers instead of the landlines and premium numbers we've come to recognise as likely being nuisance/marketing/PPI/debt collecting calls
