I was called supposedly as a Guardian reader with an offer on a 'Weekly Guardian', it was obvious that if I accepted they were going to asked for my bank details to set up a D/D, I put the phone down. BEWARE!!!!!!

Same thing, said from The Guardian and wanted to offer me "free vouchers" to buy the Guardian at a discount. I said I already got if free on the days I wanted it, from my Waitrose shop. He tried to dismiss this and engage me in conversation. I terminated the call. -

I am the first to comment but I notice I'm the 176th person who has tried to find out of this is a dodgy scam/marketing call. I would say the chances are quite high that it is. Let your telephone do the work. If there is no voicemail left then there is no urgency to speak with them!

I got a call from this number today. Initially I could hear background noise which I thought could be a call centre. I said hello and the line went silent though they did not hang up. I said hello again. No-one responded so I hung up.
