linked to Sapphire magazine. 1p to receive and 79.99 when accepted. with various discount vouchers and meal deal card. never answered claims, charges £79.99 7 times from Nov 13 to June 14 after joining Aug 13,Loat £560 - avoid at all costs. they are theives

One payment was to much for me will be contacting trading standards Monday.Tricia replied 8/11/14, 12:07 PMI did exactly the same thing.I paid £1 for Sapphire Welcome pack and £79.99 for accepting though I did try to cancel this before the 14 day cooling off period.Recently,between June-Aug 2014 I've had 3 further amounts of £79.99 taken from my account. My bank have put a block on MGI for any future payments and are looking into recouping me some money but how successful they'll be is another matter. I have cancer now & could do without the added stress . -

I was also caught out by these people. They tried to take £79.95 out at 2.40 this afternoon. Fortunately I had gone out to get some cat food and I tried to use my card which was refused because they had taken the little that was in there and left me with £4. I immediately came home, reported it to the bank who told me that the payment was going out under the name MGI. MGI are a real firm of accountants and they are aware of the scam being perpetrated in their name. The payment was awaiting authorisation so the bank blocked my card and cancelled the payment. I was fortunate in that I realised what was happening and was able to get the bank to stop the payment. I wonder how many others are taken in by these scams?

I was called by this number told I would be sent magazines and petrol vouchers all I had to do was donate £1 to cover postage. I was ask for my long card number and expiration date . Nothing came in the mail but today 23/06/14 I noticed £79.99 in my pending transaction from MGI with the phone number attached I called the bank and cancelled my card right away hopefully I acted before they got my money. These people are thieves .

I did as others have, l gave 1pound as a gift to cancer research & in return was promised a magazine (which l Never received). Since then they have taken not only the pound but 1 payment of 79.99 & 7 payments of si pounds 25pence per month, l've tried the number to cancell but have yet to have the call answered, l am now trying to cancell through my bank, will update if l get this sorted. :-(

I was contacted by MGI offering petrol vouchers for £1 plus other vouchers which I would not have to accept. Was assured only £1 would be debited. I return vouchers to MGI within 14 days as I felt this was something that would not actually benefit me. I was assured no money other than a £1 would be taken, butt this is not the case as my account has been debited for £79.95 by a completely different company other than MGI. The telephone number is going to voice mail. Now awaiting a call back.
Danielle replied 6/27/14, 8:08 PMIv just had exactly the same done to me, a lady rang took my card details, said she will just take £1 for the welcome pack with petrol vouchers in, the pack came i through it away because it said you have to join to use the vouchers, i didn't get in touch and join yet MGI have taken £79.99 of me, left me with £13 in my bank. Wat do i do, help anybody please. -

I can only agree with all derogratory comments I have read.I did get their address but only when I said Trading Standards reply no refunds. I had a long talk to my bank will only accept funds in. If known to so many systems it is time they were sorted.All poaching of funds will be documented by your bank.

Sometime last year I had a phone call regarding giving them £1.00 for £20.00 petrol vouchers. Since then I was charged the amount of £79.99 4 times. I don't check my statements normally but in December 2014 I did after coming back from holiday. Surprisingly I saw the amount of £79.99 going out from my account. I investigated and checked my previous bill and found out that 4 lots of £79.99 went to MGI Services from February 2013 to December 2013. I contacted my bank and they investigated but they could not help me. All this time I have not received anything/goods. I rang the 0844 567 1020 number and spoke to someone in early March.
She argued and I was offered a refund of half the amount. I am still struggling to receive this payment after constantly ringing them every 2 to 3 days, they keep on saying in will be within my bank within 72 hours but I haven’t received any payment yet.
I would like to know that if this is happening to lot of people then why is Watchdog not doing anything. I have also written to them but no response yet…I would like to know how many people have received the refund from MGI.

I was told that I was meant to cancel the subscription to their magazine which I never subscribed to in the first place. When I told them I wanted my money back I was told it is nonrefundable. What a load of crap. Someone needs to do something about these people to stop them taking advantage of people. -

I received a call from this company, Saphire, offering a promotional discount club/membership for £1 with an option to cancel. It wasn't for me, I cancelled with an assurance that no monies would be taken &I am now £79.99 poorer. Despite contacting them & being assured of a refund, nothing. This is just a scam & thievery. Will be contacting trading standards.

never got mag but they got their £1.00 then all of sudden £79.99 is also withdrawn from the bank. Rang company told me non refundable due to T&C. What T&C the ones you were told on the telephone call - Can I have a copy of them - sent with the magazine didn't receive - gave me two false names. phone Police and Trading Standards - company is well known by both -

MGI Recreational Services is a serious defrauding and deceptive company. I have been a victim of debit card fraud and deception by the afore - mentioned company. I received a call from the company promoting the sale of a supposedly magazine which was never sent by the way for £1.00 and was deceived to hand over my card details to the lady caller.
Today, an amount of £79.99 has been withdrawn from my current account. How could MGI Recreational Services be allowed to operate with such impunity? Someone should be able to give me an explanation to my question please. -

Like other posts, I was caring for a relative with cancer(now deceased)when I was called and persuaded to buy a magazine for £1, with petrol vouchers, and money going to cancer charities.1 magazine arrived but vouchers are almost impossible to redeem,I was told it would cost £12 if I wanted to continue but £79.99 left bank before I could cancel, now more money has 3 months later, I'm trying to get refunds!

I am suffering from throat cancer and received a call from Joshua he talked me into a magazine for charity at a cost of £1.00. He explained that there would be a coupon for petrol which I thought was great as I could give it to my neighbour as he takes me to hospital.No magazine appeared £79.99 was taken from my bank which was just about a weeks ESA benefit. I rang for my money back which they told me was none refundable I argued they hung up on me.I rang again on the next day only to be told the magazine had been posted and would receive it within the next couple of days there is another number they use 08435070707

I too was contacted and believed I had to pay a pound to recieve a magazine and to let them know if I wanted to cancel the subscription. I was making tea for 6 children and was hassled enough, so foolishly I gave the woman my card details. Sure enough, nothing arrived and just under £80 was taken from my account, which caused me to be overdrawn, so I have to pay bank charges . I feel really depressed. It's nearly Christmas and I am hard up enough as it is. These peolpe should be located and brought to justice.

My mother had recently a transaction of £79.99 from her bank account which she didn't know anything about. Turned out, she had received a phone call by some scammers saying that she had participated in a survey (which she did) and agreed to a subscription (which, unfortunately, she had). - However, the subscription as supposedly for £1.00 and that's why she did agree to. To this day, she has not seen one copy of the magazine and the caller said something about a supposed cancellation she had made. I called them back since she didn't cancel anything when she never even saw the product and that especially if the magazine subscription was cancelled there was no reason to charge her £79.99. After what felt like hours of arguing, they promised a full refund within 14 days. Let's wait and see...

Please contact Actionfraud on 03001232040 and report this; they are all too aware of this company and what they are doing
