This is the Halifax Fraud Line - checking that transactions on your account are genuine. Just had a dodgy transaction flagged up and my card cancelled.

Was asked to call this number after receiving a text about an unknown transaction. Checked my online banking and another transaction from the same number had gone through.
Google search for number plus halifax found a link where both the banks facebook and twitter accounts verified the number so called and they're now sorting the pending transactions. -
Genuine call from Halifax fraud prevention. They noticed someone in USA somehow used my card for a very small amount £4.24 (apparently they do this to see if it's accepted)
They have cancelled my card and are sending a new one straight away. Excellent service from Halifax -
just called my bank and they confirmed they didnt try to ring me. no history left to suspect anything. Scam

Husband had txt asking him to confirm a transaction. He responded no & his bank now showing 11 "card not present" transactions pending for clearing tomorrow totalling £235. Needless to say he's just gone bank to get them cancelled & card cancelled.
