The caller (nice English speaking lady) said she called regarding crime prevention. Asked me to grab pen and paper to note down some advice - all common sense as it turned out. Started telling me about when she was burgled twice recently. About 10 min into the call she started talking about a device or service for the telephone to reach emergency services. Claimed it was now difficult to get through without delay without this service. When I asked did she represent this company she said no, she was just doing a survey but the company was now offering a discount in my area. I said I was on the TPS list and she should not have called me. I then ended the call. I felt I had been misled into thinking the call was from an official crime prevention organisation such as Neighbourhood Watch. All the "advice" and talking about her experience was just an attempt to make me trust her and scare me into buying whatever the company was selling (never quite clear what it was). Don't be sucked in by all the chat.
