Investigator Dawn reported number +449798234079 as Microsoft windows control centre
Said he was from Microsoft and that my computer was downloading unsafe files. I told him I'm not using microsoft. English very poor. Did not understand what I was saying and wanted me to go online and let him have access to my computer.

Mike reported unknown with the number +449798234079 as Telemarketer
Fake Windows Technical Services call, as usual wanted to show me all the viruses and malware on my computer. "Whenever you browse your Google, it picks up the viruses and malware and we can remove them". Clueless. Refused to follow his instructions, so he threatened to "block my computer". Oh no. How will I ever post this?

Peter reported unknown with the number 9798234079 as Harassment calls
Just had a call from this number 001-979-823-4079. Guy with poor english said the files on my Windows computer were infected by a download of infected files. Wanted to speak to the owner of the PC. After stringing him along for a while I told him to get lost as it was a scam. He hung up.
Peter replied 7/8/14, 2:12 PMBTW - the guy asked for me by name. So somehow he has a list of UK phone numbers and names of the people who live there. I agree with Scambuster - NEVER have anything to do with these people. If you ever get a problem with your PC then take it to a local reputable PC doctor company and as them for advice/help. Never accept unsollicited help from a phone caller ... or someone knocking on your door.

Scambuster reported Windows scam with the number 9798234079 as Harassment calls
Number actually shows as 0019798234079 on caller ID but this site seems to drop the 00.
This is a Windows security scam where they tell you that you have viruses on your PC and they can fix them for you. Didn't go along with it today and said to them that I suppose they were going to show me errors and warnings in my Windows event logs and they just hung up without any further comment. Hopefully they will remove me from their database if they realise I'm too Windows savvy to ever fall for this.
Anyway, something else to look out for is that they may want you to download software from Teamviewer or AMMYY so that they can take control of your PC remotely and also to see everything you can see on your PC screen.
They will claim to need to do this to fix the problem with your PC. Viruses probably.
They will ask you for a payment to complete the service but remember, if they can see everything you type on your screen, that may include card security numbers if they are displayed when you type. Any other mail addresses, logins, passwords etc that are visible to you on your screen may also be visible to them as they can see a copy of your screen activity once any downloaded software is executed. Don't download and install anything that these people tell you they need. Remember, Microsoft do not call end users about virus problems, just because they care about you!
