Took a call @ home at 8.40am UK time from an Asian sounding gentleman who told me his name was Mac & he was calling from "Windows" as my computer has been infected with a load of virus & spy ware junk. I asked him how I could verify who he was & he then went on with some tale about numbers & codes so I hung up & did 1471 to get his number. He immediately phoned back but I didn't take the call, & came online to check if its a scam.....which it seems it is. Thanks everyone for your comments :)

They want access to your PC .i told them i was transferring them to my manager and i spoke in a Robotic voice ...please hold the line.. Spoke then in a different voice to them asked them to wait while i found the access code and left the phone next to the Tv ... Surprise surprise tgey hung up

If you really want to annoy them, let them give you the script and keep them hanging on whilst you find your pen, some paper to write down each instruction as your memory is poor, your glasses as they were here earlier, another pen as the first one isn't working, a new fuse for the PC's plug, call another engineer as the PC won't switch on (can they help with that by the way...you must be doing something wrong as you're not very good with electronics). Then explain you need to pass them on to your supervisor as they will know what to do, apologise for the delay as the engineer is on his way from the other building and explain how you hope they're not working on commission as this call must be really eating into their potential income. Eventually you can explain that the engineer / supervisor is here now, but they're looking for their pen, some paper and their glasses ..... Hello..... Hello.... Is anyone there..... Oh dear, they seem to have hung up.....

2 calls far today from this number, asking me to sit in front of my PC and provide them with information so that they can 'fix the errors which may destroy the internet'. They claim to be calling from 'The Computer Services Department', and then they state 'We are working on behalf of the Windows operating system'. If you question this, they change the script slightly, to say they are working ON the Windows operating system. If you ask when they intend to ask for bank detail or passwords, they claim to be doing these checks for your own protection. If you ask them why they would seek to protect a PC which was not purchased from them, they revert back to saying they are calling on behalf of the Computer Service department. Whatever it is that they intend to do when they get you in front of your PC, it certainly won't be to protect you from the internet or vice versa.

This number has called my UK house phone 3 times now.
Each time I could hardly get a word out of them due to the awful quality, so unfortunately I don't have that much information to report, other than the apparent fact that I have a virus on my PC which they have somehow miraculously managed to detect... Hmm....
When I asked him if it was a scam, he began shouting at me, telling me to prove it, so I shouted back before he asked me to speak in Spanish. I won't write down what I said to him (In Spanish), but as soon as I said it he hung up.
Anyway, if they call again I'll ask them to call me on another line, see if I can collect as much information and as many numbers as possible. -

I live in the UK and some guy just called me saying my PC had lots of viruses and spy ware and wanted me my PC ID number. This is the probably the third call from people like this in the past month so I've just reported to the police and given them the telephone number they used.

Cold call asking to get access to PC. They claimed they were working on behalf of Microsoft and there Company name was PC Experts. Claimed I had PC causing errors and they needed to resolve. Told them I didn't have a PC so they stated a licence code and would inform Microsoft that the code was no longer used so any PC that has that licence code will no longer work.

Call re computer! US number but female voice sounded as if they were from a call centre in the East not West. I have had similar calls on my landline & on my mother's landline last year. Caller says they are calling on behalf of my computer company as they noticed I had errors slowing down connection. They don't charge BUT need you to enter a code so they can get access to your computer! They are very good as they can see computer problems in a home where there is no computer.

As per the other calls trying to access the computer, i used to keep them on the phone as long as i could saying "I have to switch on and Log in to the computer first", then when they get impatient, say "well it's taking me time to find my car keys" When they asked why i needed my keys i said "my computer is at work, i'll have to go and get it", this normally results in abusive language. But now i just get as much info as i can and report them to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/getsupport/hostpage.aspx?oaspworkflow=start_1.0.0.0&wfname=scamsurvey and let them deal with it.
