   I was called by this number, I answered - they dropped the line.
   
   If you call the number back - you get a message saying "You were called today on behalf on one of our clients".
   
   Why would any of their clients pay them to call and drop the call upon connection - apart from just to verify the line?

   This is a wordsearch puzzle competition phone line - basically if you've ever called an 0800 number to enter a puzzle competition they are calling entrants back to reimburse them for the high call costs. If you answer once and speak to them they will leave you alone. The call is not charged.
