I called Rossendale earlier today after receiving a letter from them about an account I already have an agreement with between my self & my husband and the original company (Utd Utilities). Not only was the name incorrect on their letter but the woman we spoke to was very unhelpful and the call ended with her saying that although we were paying money owed already to UU we would continue to receive letters from Rossendale telling us to pay them instead (she also stated that it was fine that we were paying UU, but encouraged us to set up a payment plan with Rossendale anyway). My husband informed her that we would be continuing to pay UU as we already were and ended the call. Three hours later I had a call back from them which I didn't answer as I see no reason to communicate with them.

Called me at 20:00 claiming to be from a collection agency, spoke to a guy called Callum.
Couldn't tell me why he was calling and had a different mailing address for me, he was pretty vague with regards to the nature of the call (under data protection). They are a legit debt collection agency, however it is up to you to decide what they like, I am paying them a debt, they are typical of debt collection agencies in my opinion, but to those saying they are nuisance callers, sort your crap out! no amount of saying "ah but like, i have no debt" they wont waste time calling you if you dont have a debt, if its wrong details then move on, please dear god, move on.

These people have been ringing me everyday for the last three months, finally spoke to them they asked for my name but I refused, asked who they were but refused to tell me, but from previous calls they are a debt collection agency told them I don't owe nothing to anybody & asked them to take my number of there data, we will see

Repeatedly called with recorded message left trying to get me to call back. Letter received re HMRC overpayment about which I have a plan agreed and have paid half back already, asking for full amount!!! Rang HMRC and paid them, still receiving calls from Rossendales. Have blocked their number.

recieved a letter stating i owe HMRC a large amount for not sending in my end of year. Contacted my accountant arranged a meeting to sort this out, We phoned HMRC and they confirmed that owed nothing to them, Got this in writing now and emailed them telling them that i would see them in court as i have proof that i owe nothing, but this company still keep ringing me!! How they got my number i will never know????

Called asking for the man next door who I know has a debt as he has given my address and many letter have arrived here for him, which I take next door. It is to do with a parking ticket and I have had bailliffs at the door too and told them where he lives. Therefore I think this is a legitimate call. But they wouldn't say how they got my number and I'm really fed up about the number of times I am being bothered about someone else's problem.

Wednesday, 31 December 2014 09:01 hours. Telephone call from 01706830603. It seems they are nasty bailiff firm called Rossedales. No debts here. No message left. Rang them back, an answer message claimed that their offices were shut. Plenty of warnings about this firm.

Rang and I answered, after a few seconds of me saying hello hello, they answered saying is this miss (my surname) I said who's calling please? Are you miss (surname)? I said depends who's calling, they mumbled something and hung up!!??!! It's not a big request to know who you're talking to is it??
Djackv replied 9/5/14, 4:14 PMI had exactly the same yesterday and had to tell them the same thing...that I would not confirm anything until they confirmed who they were and what company they were calling from. In the end I put the phone down on them. I never give my details to anyone who won't confirm who they are first. -

asked me to confirm my address which I did (but made sure to recite it at a speed/tone where if they have my address they can confirm but if they didn't they wouldn't understand me) was then asked for my date of birth and national insurance number! asked what it was about and was told I needed to confirm identity first, said no and hung up the phone.

Looking to get information from a random number!
This number have been calling me regularly. When I answer the phone there is a recorded message asking me to call them back.
When i did they did not know what it was in connection with, my number was not on the system.
They then wanted to take my details which i refused.
I can only imagine then they would have a number to go with there nuisance call! -

Rang me asking my name and address and refused to give it and they did not identify who they were. When pressed told me I owed money to HMRC and would I make a payment? Politely too them I would contact HMRC and if I owed them any money would pay them directly. Thought this was a scam!!!!

Asked for someone else at a different address. When I told him he must have the wrong number he simply wanted my name to add into his system for reference purposes. I politely told certainly not.I have now added this number to a list of those in my caller display,not to answer - who needs this!

They called and said it was a confidential matter and wanted my details so I asked for the companies name but refused to give it as this would prejudice the situation so I advise that their is no provision within the DPA 1988 which states that they are not allowed to disclosed their details prior to me disclosing mine.

If you are being called by Debt Collectors claiming they are working on behalf of another company you owe money to, they are not. Chances are, your creditors have got fed up with trying to contact you themselves and getting nowhere. They would of sold your debt for pennies on the pound to a THIRD PARTY COMPANY and it is now them that are attempting to chase you for the FULL AMOUNT. The thing is, your creditor and the debt collection company have NOVATED your contract WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT and legally don't have a leg to stand on. The good news continues still further. If they bought your debt from your creditor without contacting you first, to find out if you would be happy to pay them instead then joy of joys, the debt NO LONGER EXISTS because the debt collection company have paid it! I suggest you go to WH SMITHS and buy them a thank you card lol. Now contact Experian to have your credit rating adjusted.
I used to work in a financial dept. and I can garuntee that the passing of debt to debt collectors is completely legal and holds the debt legit, it's written into most contracts!
Further more if you have failed to pay the bills relating to the contract you yourself have negated the contract, meaning that you are open to have the debt passed on as seen fit.
Regarding the number, I have no idea how they got my number as I'm up to date on everything. Don't even have any loans but they won't stop calling and it's annoying, I think they are just fishing for information.
I only deal direct with councils. And I f-ck off their callers. I got the council to agree I had no liability yet Rossendales still kept pestering. They are parasites. Don't play their game.
