   phone hasn't stopped all morning after seeing comments here I will not be answering the call, I have given my number to nobody and dont appear in any directories as i dont use the phone at all. Sick of these idiots

   Very shortly after confirming my name address details I started being called by Barclays for an outstanding debt from years ago - I think this is an address trace service for delinquent debtors using a free survey as a hook to get you to confirm your details - it can't be a coincidence, and she was very careful to rush over confirming that this was my current address. Got to be a tracing service.

   5 calls in 4 hours. More direct / insistent each time. Asking for details of washing machine and confirmation of other personal info. Told not to call, requested details to be removed from database etc. asked to speak with supervisor and they hung up. Last call was at 8:35pm and woke up young children again. They should now have the message but as they seem to be using antiquated outbound techniques and dialler I'm not convinced we won't get another international call tonight! I would like to identify the outsourcing company that runs the operation and the identity of the firm that's sold my personal data and sent it off shore in breach of the DPA.

   This number called us three times in the last 24 hours.
   As others described, heaviliy accented Indian men/women.
   First time the asked to speak to me by name, when I asked who was speaking they hung up.
   Second time same again. I asked who they were and after several attempts I understood it to be i-wash. Then she asked the make of the washing machine I have and I asked how they got my name/number. They said they got it out of the phone book. I and ex directory and on TPS, so that's not true.
   So I asked them for their address and they said Central Manchester but couldn't say any more. When I pressed they hung up.
   Third was just a minute ago when another one called and my wife answered. When she said we spoke to them about an hour ago he mumbled something and it seemed like there was someone in the background telling him to end the call. Hung up.
   
   Very dodgy as they hang up as soon as they are challenged.

   Heavily indian accented lady by the name of "Ashleigh" rang to find out what kind of washing machine I had. Very polite until I asked what they were going to do with the information and what the call was for, at which point she got very evasive, to the point of telling me she had already told me the purpose of the call and assuring me that my details would be protected by data protection - yeah thanks, I work in sales myself actually. Point blank wouldn't answer my question as to what would be done with the information, as no-one collects this sort of thing for no reson. Despite the number appearing on my 1471, when I tried dialling it, apparently the number doesn't exist. Explicitly stated that I did *not* give permission for my details to be reused, requested that my details be removed from the database, and advised that I had noted the number, time and name of the caller and that I would complain to OFCOM if there were any more. Shame, as if she'd just told me what was going to be done with the information the call would have gone a lot better for her...I don't as a rule mind cold-callers, I just hate people trying to take me for a mug!

   Got a call at 11.45am from an indian-accented lady who refused to talk to my girlfriend. Claimed it was a survey for washing machines. Said company was called 'i-wash'. She had my old address & demanded I tell her my new one. I refused. She grew more insistant. I had no option but to hang up on her. Thankyou for setting up this site. Well done. Such calls can be unsettling and isolating.

   Asked about my washing machine, said I rented so didnt deal with this. Said that was fine, bye and hung up. I presume it's some sort of selling of maintenance/repair/replace type thing...
