   Scammers. Ask you to run a windows command ('Assoc') which magically confirms your computer number (888dca ... d062), but turns out to be the same on every recent Windows machine. Then ask you to go onto one of a few websites (e.g. www.support.me) to control your PC.
   
   Act dumb, take ages and annoy them, but never get as far as giving them control!!!

   p.s. The initial ruse is that there's a problem with the router. So ask them which company they work for and which router model is problematic? The couldn't answer that. I played them along as they said they're working for BT, yet my broadband comes from TalkTalk!
   
   Can anyone else beat my 20 minutes wasting their time?

   These guys are Social Engineering Hackers. They will try to get you to install software on your computer to help you fix a problem you don't have. Once installed, they will have control of your computer. You will likely have to re-install your entire Operating System to ensure they don't leave anything (back doors, keyloggers, ransom ware, etc) behind when they log out.

   Call is from 0121 Birmingham. Sounds as far away as India where a lot of cold calls originate - speakers usually have heavy Indian accents and difficult to comprehend but when you ask, they are unable to answer simple questions if it deviates from the script. They reluctantly then drop in they are "BT" calling. Next time I feel like acting out I'm cooperating just to see how far it goes and how eager they get when they think they've hooked me !

   Usual morning cold call. Guy with Indian accent calling about my "Internet connection". Played dumb, asked what that meant. As they read off a script he repeated himself - half the words, a lousy line and noises in background meant really difficult to hear or comprehend his thick accent and I keep saying I don't understand him, what does he want, to rile him. Eventually he stated he was from BT. !! I know this is a scam to get into a computer. I often string it out acting stupid or saying he's reached a business or a hospital etc, so which one??? They usually hang up in disgust. Then I leave the phone off the hook for 1/2 hour!

   The call starts with them saying they are from your internet service provider. I said who is that and they said BT. I told them I had called BT and this number was nothing to do with BT and the guy got really rude and started shouting at me and then said my internet would be cut off for 6 months before he hung up on me.

   15:29 19/7/16. Did not appear to know my name, address or location, as did not refer to any - so just cold call to landline. Claimed to be from BT security and that there was a problem with my router. I asked who are BT? (jut to wind him up) - the answer he gave was the only truth in his call. He wanted me to check and confirm some details on my router. I told him I did not believe what he said, I was not going to give him any information and that I was going to hang up - which I did.

    Calls stating from my internet provider but dont say company name, 3 calls in total "Kevin", "Jenny" and "Sally" all foreign accents. I hang up on them.
