I have received two calls from this number but fortunately my digital answering machine kicked in. Bizarrely, they left a voice message saying that my BT Internet had been hacked and had to call them back immediately. Well, I don’t even have a BT account so that was complete bull****! Haha!

A young lady just called and said my Microsoft computer had been hacked by scammers; I went along for a bit, before telling her that I was a computer programmer and knew a little bit about online security - after a short silence I was told to "go away somewhere and die". I replied "Thank you very much, you too", and for some reason she hung up on me! Shame, I was beginning to enjoy the polite, intelligent conversation...possibly a little more customer care training would benefit her scamming technique and may make her work less stressful...
Jon Butt replied 2018-10-06 16:38:16In all seriousness, ignore anything they say, cut them off and block the number. This won't guarantee more calls of this sort but if you're not comfortable with these types of calls don't engage in conversation and just cut them off immediately (you don't have to be polite to scammers) -
Rang off after 3 rings (as being answered) and when ring back, just asked what extension

What a giant surprise, a mid afternoon silent call. That was bound to be a golden opportunity (to tell John Smith in Bangalore to get fu(ked).
-
She said she was from Microsoft and it was in regards to my computer, i told her i didnt have one, which i do, and she said "well its about your laptop then" ... told her i didnt have a laptop and she then repeated herself again, once again told her i didnt have a computer or laptop then screamed down the phone "YOU'RE A F****** LIAR!" then went silent on the phone. Think its fair to say she needs to work on her sales pitch.

A man with an Asian accent claimed to be from the Internet Security Department of BT, reporting a problem with my computer. I just told him that I am not with BT (true) and can't understand why BT didn't know that, and I hung up. This change of approach could be dangerous though because those with a BT connection might think it is genuine.

They called and said my Microsoft computer (which we don't actually have) had been hacked by scammers; I went along for a bit, then asked him where he was calling from; then that I thought he was scamming me, then he said 'you're an idiot!' - at least try and have a better comeback than that!
