When I answered, I was told that O2 and Virgin had combined and that I would receive a new SIM card in the mail in three days. They requested me to verify my email address (asking me to provide it to him), which alarmed me because they ought to have all the details pertaining to my account in one place. I placed the phone down and checked his number; I have a suspicion that this is a hoax.

The caller claimed to be from O2 when I received the call. After passing me along to a supervisor, they promised to block my original SIM card and send me a new one. Despite not knowing my name, they said they had my information and requested my email for verification. They became upset and hung up when I informed them I will contact O2 personally.
