Foreign accent male rang, said he was ringing from UK Financial Services and wanted to send me a cheque in the post for bank charges refunds. My elderly mother had answered the call at the same time as me and I listened into the phone call. He told her he had her name and address and postcode and then asked her for her date of birth. I intervened at this point and told her to hang up her extension. When I challenged him about ringing my elderly mother for her personal information he would not answer any questions and he eventually put the phone down - he was paying for the call so I let the silence continue! This is a scam to obtain money from the vulnerable and elderly who would not think to withhold their personal information such as DOB or bank details. Phone companies need to take action and stop this - I'm not listed anywhere on directory enquiries so I would also like the government to take action and stop allowing anyone to have my phone details when I have taken every step possible to keep my details private.

Phoned telling me they had a cheque to send for refund of bank charges. Had my name and address, wanted my date of birth. When asked which bank were refunding charges just repeated UK Financial Services. Told me they would cancel cheque if I didn't give date of birth. I said that would be fine and hung up. Its time uk phone numbers were stopped from being given to overseas callers.

Made several calls to my dad. Someone called Jennifer and then a John wilson claiming to be a solicitor from this company.he asked my dad to buy £150 iTunes vouchers to pay solicitor when he comes to give him £2900 in ppi claim. My dad did this then a day later this chaps rings back asking for numbers of iTunes cards. Passing phone to my mum she read them out. Bang £150 gone. Mum only realised afterwards. I phoned iTunes 1hr 15 mins on the phone to block and disable them. Doubt we will get the money back. Whilst I was there he rang I took the call. When I asked for his phone number he put the phone down. Scam. I have made my parents change there phone number now. Reported it 101. Only a month back he was nearly scammed again out of £250 but my mum took the call from western union and stopped the transaction.

A lady rang my Mum at 8:00am waking her and straight into spiel regarding how they were from the Ministry of Justice and were re-uniting people with money their banks had stolen. They would need to confirm my Mums details (they already knew she banked at Barclays which startled her), but the initial caller wasn't able to do that and she would be called later by a Mr Wood. In the meantime, Mum rang her bank who made notes and asked her to call the police. The police gave her the number for Action Fraud - 03001232040. She called them and they logged the details.
Mr Wood did ring back requesting her bank details and d.o.b etc to which she responded that she had contacted the police and action fraud. After calling her a daft b***h, the caller rang off. -
I've had a number of calls asking for Mr Prime (not my name). They did ask for my name and address but I declined. Finding this site makes me very glad I did

Fouled mouthed asian accent when questioned

A foreign sounding man introduced himself as John Parker and said I was due for refund of bank charges. I gave him my dob (I recently claimed charges and for a second thought it was genuine.)I would never give bank details and said so. I just said Lloyds bank(not true). He said his boss will phone me today. They called this morn and I didn't answer. Dreading the phone ringing now and worried giving my dob was a dangerous thing. He didn't swear but got more impatient as the call went on.
Lou replied 2015-10-09 13:45:22Hi Sunny,
I made exactly the same mistake as you though feel much better after phoning Action Fraud who put my mind at rest and assured me that they would not be able to take money from my account. Though for extra peace of mind I will check through Experian to ensure there aren't any changes from this on my credit rating.
I hope you have resolved this issue also.
Kind regards -
An Asian sounding man called asked to speak to me by name, said he was from the Ministry of Justice, then he told me to FU-K Off & hung up.
-
The foreign sounding man asked if I was effing deaf when I said hello 3 times and then he hung up

Can I suggest to anyone bothered by this type of call that when you pick up the phone you answer "Hello" in your ordinary voice, and then every time after the other has spoken you just say, in your ordinary voice, "I'm sorry I don't speak English." ? Just say that every time - in your ordinary voice. Keep yourself from laughing as they get more and more irate. It can be quite fun !

Get calls from this number at least three times a day.....everyday. I do the same as I do with all nuisance calls, pick up the phone (so hopefully they are being charged for the connection) but instantly lay the receiver down without listening to, or speaking to the caller, after five minutes doing something else I return to the phone and replace the receiver. These calls should be made ILLEGAL as its harassment and a gross invasion of people's privacy, I am ex directory so curious to know how they have my number. However, when people purchase an item I.e TV, washing machine etc....and give personal details for guarantee purposes, that info is then sold to these scammers and then resold to other companies, when will people wise up? NEVER GIVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER to anybody, however normal it might seem when asked. It's private and not necessary to validate guarantees on purchases of any kind.

Called be by name then told me to F off in full. Then to go f### myself and that he had a long dick
-
Man just called me, so called from the ministry of justice London, asking me to confirm my address and DOB, I didn't of course but quizzed him about who he was and how he got my name & address from..he said he needed more details from me so he could send me a cheque for £3600..I told him to just send me the cheque and he put down the phone when I wouldn't cooperate further. Please warn your family, especially the elderly.

Caller of Indian ethnicity persisted in speaking with someone who has not lived at this address for over 15 years - so I don't know where they get their information from. Caller would not give name or name of company. Complete waste of time answering phone!
-
Just had a call from 'Victor' a lawyer from the Department of Justice! When I repeated it, he said yes, Regent street! I repeated that again. Think he was having a bad day....he then came out with 'B****, B****, B****, B****!!!!' Then came a couple of minutes of similar rantings....oh happy day! In between all this, my comments were 'nice, how sweet, ah bless'. Don't know, think it might have bothered him...He then passed me on to Mark whose language wasn't quite so vitriolic, & then said I was wasting his time. I thought he had rung me to waste my time......Such fun!

Jacob from "claim advisory service" 2/3 regent stree, central london W1B 2QD rang to say i was owed money from bank, played along and they are phoning me again with details of payment, i said just send a cheque, no reponse, I wonder why!!!
-
Foreign woman said she was calling from Ministry of Justice - I thought I'd see what she had to say! Apparently they were sending me a cheque to refund charges I had paid to my bank and she reeled off my address then asked if it was correct. As this information is readily available I said it was. She then asked me what the reason was for refunding the charges. I said I didn't know as she had rung me. She kept asking me the reason for it and I told her she had rung me to tell me they were sending a cheque so that was fine. She kept banging on about what was the reason for it, I told her she must know the reason as she had rung me. She hung up! Scam - avoid and don't ever give out any information.
-
Called, was a gentleman (?!) with a strong Indian accent, knew my name and address and said was from Ministry of Justice and wanted to send me a cheque. I replied that he didn't really expect me to believe him did he? He told me to f*** off. I thanked him and wished the same to him too. Can't these numbers be blocked?
-
phoned up to say they were from The Justice Deptpartment, load of time wasters....
-
Once again. foreign accent, from the 'Ministry of Justice'. I asked where in the UK is the above, and the woman replied, 'ReCEnt St'. Cracked me up! I'd already received a spam call from some other idiot early, so I was fed up. Strung her along for a bit, then YELLED 'get off my line, and remove me from your database NOW'. Then hung up.
-
Told me to f*** off when I asked why he wanted who he asked for he would give reason so I kept asking why lol scammer I think
-
An Asian sounding caller said he was from The ministry of justice in Regent Street London - when I said this sounded rubbish he swore at me. I put the phone down- he phoned again and was very sexually aggressive. Very frightening
-
I had the same problem I now have a BT Phone 8500 with call blocker and now I never get ANY nuisance callers I would recommend everyone to get one of these phones
-
Male with Asian accent purporting to be from the Ministry of Justice called and asked how I was, I replied that I was not prepared to discuss my health with a complete stranger, at which point I was told in no uncertain terms not to try and be to clever, to stay inside my boundaries, and that "I know who you are"! I kept calm, and replied that I knew who I was too, at which point he hung up.

Man with cultured and friendly Asian accent rang from "Ministry of Justice" (on challenge claimed address 233 Regent Street). Claimed to have a government cheque for £3600 for repayment of illegal bank charges. Asked for name, date of birth and banks from whom I had ever had loans. He already had my surname and address but had my son's forename (I apparently had the same entitlement!). He rang again twice after I ended the calls before giving up (for the time being....).

-
Claimed to be from Ministry of Justice, wishing to send me a refund of bank charges (really).
When I didn't buy in to it and started questioning him, he responded by insulting me and my mental state, asking why I didn’t F off (I reminded him he called me) finally declaring that all the female members of my family must be prostitutes and he didn't want to talk to prostitute people…. -
Asian male tried to convince me that this was a "verification call" on behalf of the "Ministry of Justice" prior to "sending me a cheque" as compensation for unspecified charges by banks. As well as my phone number, he knew my name and address, including postcode. He asked if I could provide my date of birth. I said no. End of call.
-
Foreign sounding male caller asked to speak to Mr or Mrs Angry, I told him that there was no one of that name here, that seemed to throw him and after a pause he then said ok and hung up.
-
When I failed to say 'hello', the male voice just said 'f*** off'.
-
I took this call for my employer his lordship, the caller did not leave their details so did not pass on the callers request they asked whom I was told them I was his Lordships butler and the caller just kept saying the same word over sounded like oh or why could not make out the callers voice I was told to just hang up to which I did, I would advise anyone to do the same action.
-
Called several times before we answered. When we asked him for details about himself and company he became verbally aggressive so we hung up.
He was claiming to be from the Ministry of Justice and wanting to give us some money
