The number 02087804180 and 02082460000 phoned me many times in the morning when I was still asleep. I tried to phone back when I was properly awake but it says the phone numbers are not recognized.
Aha replied 2019-09-29 15:38:25Did you find out whether it was police or not?Sleepy replied 2019-09-29 16:53:51It is not the police. I called the number back which was not recognized and researched. It does not exist. Even my provider told me it is a scam. They did not leave a message. I got a warning this might a dangerous group of people. It is best not to answer. I missed out blocking the number because I did too many things with my phone. I am registered with tps. It is not legal to cold call me. No police would call you many times and does not leave any message.Andy replied 2019-10-15 13:10:36This number is used by Metropolitan Police and yes it is genuine as I talked to police office today!Sleepy replied 2019-10-15 17:20:38It was not recognized when I phoned it. It did not work. It cannot be real. You must have called a different number. -
This call was a follow-up call from the Met Police after I reported a theft via their 101 non-emergency number.
They repeated to me details from my 101 call, so I have no doubt it was the police.
I imagine its 'unknown' etc as it comes through their switchboard, I get the same when the wife rings me from work phone.Bılly replied 2015-11-10 17:25:39Thıs number keep call me anybody know who ıs thıs numberSleepy replied 2019-09-29 16:48:24Do not answer. They are scammers. If you can block the number straight away. I missed out doing it. They called with two different numbers about 20 times when I was half-asleep on Sunday morning. They are not the police at all. A legit caller would cold call when you are registered with tps and they would not keep calling you when you don't want them to. They would leave message. I did not get any message at all. It was not possible to call them back. The number does not exist. It is a spoof number. -
I got a call on my mobile from this number, and the person calling asked me: "Is this CID?"
Now, I don't believe that a police officer would have any reason to call a mobile and ask that question. Surely they would know the name of the person they're trying to reach.
But the main reason I am suspecting some kind of fraud is that I have received the same call more than 5 times in the past year or so (from PRIVATE number). Each time, the person only asks "Is this CID?" The first time, I actually talked with the person, who didn't identify himself as a police officer, but instead gave me strange answers when I tried to find out what he wanted.
Now I've received the same call from this number (02087804180).Old bill replied 2020-06-01 20:39:31It's a police number.
It shows up when I call my phone from work phone.
Why don't you verify details like that fella above? -

Very organised occult gang stalkers. They will even hack your phone so when you try to call the police, the call will go to a member of the gang pretending to be the police.

Got call on Saturday 14 April 2018 claiming I was in a accident. Never had a accident.

This is not a “Police” number.
Basically, because Police phones work through a switchboard, outbound calls show up as “Withheld”. If your phone does not accept withheld numbers, a code can be dialled by the caller to generate a “random” local phone number, in order to reach you.
There is nothing to say that god number is exclusive to the Police. Whilst calls from this number may genuinely be from the Police, you should still seek to confirm the caller’s identity and you should never use this number to contact the Police.Michael replied 2019-03-12 01:45:09This is 100% police number!!!Kaye replied 2019-07-12 14:28:47This is for victim support. I did not answer the call as unknown but received a text shortly afterwards asking me to call DC (name given) regarding an incident I witnessed & reported to police. Also rang again from the previous Met. Police number which I had saved while I was out.

I work in security, this is a witness care number, either you have given evidence to a crime or somebody has put you down as a witness to a crime. The caller should be able to give you all the details of the case before you answer any questions. Most of the time they are just calling to give you an update of a plea. You cannot call the number back, but you can call 101 and give your name and they should be able to link it to the necessary CAD number.

It`s a ghost number created to call from a phone number that would normally be shown as `withheld`, so may well be generically used by the police for this purpose, but I don`t know if it is unique to them, or would be used by other organizations who request ghost numbers for this purpose

Police Officer called regarding witnessing a crime. He had all details.
Was happy to verify and arranged visit as follow up. -

Def the police, follow up call about reporting my landlord. Thanks
-
100% the police: following up on a case that they are investigating on my behalf, all information matches up as does the follow-up conversation when I called them back. This number is not specific to a particular police station - while someone mentions Acton above, mine was Westminster - it's still the police though.
-
Witness care unit asking whether I would be able to attent the court to give evidence next week
-
It is the police. It's a ghost number so it doesn't show up as unknown/no number.
Always check and confirm who people are though as there are scams. Scams will ask about credit cards, and want info they can actually benefit from. -
Defo the police. This number came up from Croydon police station

Caller says that he is a police officer and vital information needed. Scam or real?
Fnr replied 2014-08-29 18:12:55It's fake. Do not give any information. If in doubt request name of person and their extention and then call 101 (non emergency) to verify name and ask to be put through to the number given. Chances are they will hang up before you get to this point.Peter replied 2015-09-14 13:52:26100% real - if you want to ask for their rank and details, they will happily give them to you and can call them backAnynon replied 2019-09-25 16:03:48Organised group / very dangerous. -
Got a call from this number today saying:
"Ray, this is Andy from XXXX Police station. Give me a call back as soon as you get this, 02082476653"
My name is not Ray and I have no case with the police of any kind.Peter replied 2015-09-14 13:51:40Just because they got a wrong number doesn't mean it wasn't the police - see all other comments... -
