   i have complained about this
   company 3 times now to the banking ombudsman, i have also reported them to the credit services association, and the financial conduct authority
   they keep saying i have not stuck to my payment plan i had agreed with barclays, even though i have and have sent off copies to prove it,
   if you are in the following situation with link financial outsourcing you need to complain to
   the above regulators and hopefully something will be done

   Other practices at Link Financial Outsourcing Ltd which need looking at is their contempt for the Data Protection Act. When Link contact you they might ask you to give them a reference number which they have previously left on your answering machine. The fact that anyone with access to your phone also has this information invalidates it as a security question. Other 'security' questions might be to ask you for your date of birth. I don't know about you but I have never lived anywhere where other people in the same household don't know this information. Isn't the wholepoint of security questions to stop dishonest people, or prancksters from pretending to be you? The most stupid 'security' question I have been asked was to clarify my phone number. It was written on the telephone they called me on! I hope to call time on these practices.

   The Student Loans Company might also receive a number of requests, as to how they expect their client company Link to behave, what sanctions they are prepared to take against it, and, if Link continue to behave as they do, or if t Link are found to routinely breach the data protection Act, will the Student Loans Company terminate their contract with Link?

   This is the number for Link Financial Outsourcing Ltd, a debt collection agency based at Unit 1-5, Trecenydd Business Park, Caerphilly, CF83 2RZ. They have a history of pretending to be a mail delivery service trying to locate someone. If you receive a call from them about one of your neighbors, the previous owner of your home or a member of your family you will then know that the person Link are trying to contact is in fact in debt, at least according to the records held by Link. Can I suggest that you immediately contact the person Link are trying to track down and offer to to volunteer to give evidence to the data protection commissioner's office that Link have effectively made what might be an unlawful disclosure. The de facto disclosure that someone is in debt might also breach the Financial Conduct Authority guidelines.

   They have engaged in some dubious business practices in the past. As I have indicated above they 'point the finger' at people, by effectively letting their friends and neighbors know that they are in debt. They got away with this under the old regulatory regime which was overseen by the Office of Fair Trading. The consumer credit industry is now regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). I have every intention of pursuing a number of complaints against Link. They have no right to attempt to embarrass or shame people about their inability to repay their debts. I intend to ask both the FCA and Data Protection Commissioner's office to clarify their position on how debt collection agencies behave. The best way to do this might be by Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests made through the whatdotheyknow.com web-site, in which I shall highlight the practices of Link Financial Outsourcing Ltd. FOIA requests made through the whatdotheyknow.com site are published for everyone to read, as are the replies, which respondents are required by law to make.

   The very fact that Link Financial Outsourcing are prepared to discuss private information on a land-line phone also needs looking at. I don't know anyone with a land-line phone which does not have an extension telephone. This also creates the potential for breaches of the Data Protection act if someone (whatever their intent) picks up the extension handset.
