   A gentleman from the sub-continent asking me about life insurance, and wanted to know why I wasn't interested in whatever he had to offer. When I told him it was because I was fed up of getting cold calls he hung up on me...which was nice.

   Insurance company asking you by your name, "how did you get this info" they say from their database it comes up through their system automatically.
   Every time you put your personal details on an internet page or whatever web site whether buying something, joining by setting up an account, they ask you to click on "agree to our terms and conditions" just after you checked the "no third party policy required box" you are still agreeing to their terms and conditions which include their third party policies linked to their company, and the companies linked to them, so on and so on, it soon mounts up and this is how eventually these crappy companies get hold of your details

   "Orlando" called from "You Compare" requesting to speak to Mr [Mobile Phone Owners Surname" regarding life insurance policy which they are reviewing (I don't have a life insurance policy). Advised that he is based in Dakar, Bangladesh and that they use an automatic dialler with my telephone number being obtained from an opt-in database. Further advised that their main office is in Wales and is called "Compare Warehouse" in the UK and that his boss in UK is Mr Pasha. Call passed to supervisor called Nafiz Alam who was not happy that I knew about "Compare Warehouse". I ended call and subsequently discovered online that the company in UK is called Compare Warehouse Limited and the Director is Mr Mohammed Pasha. Now you know who to compain to the Information Commissioners Office about when you receive this call.

   Very obviously calling from abroad as his English was terrible! Don't engage in conversation as they get nasty if you try to tell them you dont want their product, just put the phone down and block the number!

   These con artist are getting crafty. They have trawled your online profile or been sold your details by someone who has access to your work/employment/business records. Ring to advise they are from your Life Insurance provider and that your policy needs updating due to your recent work circumstances changing. You are encouraged to ring back on their "UK National standard rate number" - LIE, and that call cost will be astronomical. Do NOT answer the call (as others here have warned) and don not under any circumstances call back! they are base abroad and not governed by our Regulations, Ex-Directory, Call Preference Service, etc., so you'll not see the money back or be able to take any action. They rang me on a private unpublicised special number, that is not available to the public, so they picked on the wrong victim this time, and I tore them a new one! They have probably obtained your details from

    Asks questions about your life insurance policy and then tries to sell you their product! I refused to discuss any details with them and hung up on them, I suggest people do the same!
