It's the collections dept from Lloyds.
They trade under a variety of "banking names" including Cheltenham and Gloucester, Midland & West, Sainsburys Bank, etc.
Although you may not have a bank account with them you may have a store card or credit card, loan, etc which is funded by them.
However, if you are unsure about this caller then do not give them any information as they will eventually write to you.
Phone calls are cheaper than postage, hence the use of that contact method initially. -

The representative of a bank, but not my bank wanted to advise me. He also went simply from the fact that I am with the said bank. I will not mention the name because I think that the man does not really work for the bank. It all sounded very much like sales pitch.

Received a number of missed calls from this number. Called them back and got a message along the lines of, "you were called today by Lloyds banking Group or one of its member agents....." Tweeted Lloyds bank and they have confirmed it is one of their numbers.

They call everytime I call my bank, looks like they know exactly that we contact the bank?? Wondering how!! Do not answer and do not give any information. Lying is the best you can do. If a bank wants to contact you they write or email you to contact them personally. That's how my bank proceeds.

I have been getting 1 or 2 calls everyday for the past three weeks. I had this problem earlier in the year and now I don't answer when they call. I have health problems and have difficulty getting to phone sometimes. If it was important they would leave a message but they never do.

Constantly calling two/three times per day. Normally don't bother answering, but this morning I did. On asking if I was the person named which I am, she claimed to be from Halifax. I subsequently asked if she spoke good English, and on receiving an answer in the affirmative, I told her that she was a lying xxxx and should 'go forth and multiply' Still waiting for another call. Seriously tho' these people are charlatans, trying to obtain your personal info.

I keep getting calls from these people but don't answer. I have also in the last week recieved a letter from "halifax" saying I am in debt of £136 (I don't have a loan) phoned halifax and said they can't see nothing and to ignore it. I assume they're the same scammers.

There is a lot of scaremongering on this thread. Just call it back and you will find it is Lloyds Banking Group collections. I'm sure if you rack you brains you will have a reason for them calling you - over your overdraft limit, payment plan expired etc.

Get calls every day from this number on my house phone normally while I'm out at work so can't answer but on the times I have been home to answer (normally 8.30am on weekends!) they ask for some random person although I've told atleast 10 different people they have the wrong number they still phone despite saying they will take the number off the system. Totally lost it yesterday after months of calls and asked to speak with a manager who told me they didn't know what number had been called as its automatic (how odd if you're looking for someone specific) told him my number and he assured me it's off the system. Today 8.30am they phone again straight away ask to speak to manager 'Leo' and go mad grow suspicious when he gets annoyed with me and can't give me the complaints department number or email address but will put me through to them if I give him my account number (I am a Halifax customer but not the one they are 'looking' for) no way was I doing that so googled the number and find this - totally a scam look forward to the ringing again which I'm sure they will doubt it'll last long once I question them on being a scam. Will be speaking to BT to block the number

I receive calls from this number on my mobile, home phone and work phone, they purport to be from Lloyds Bank, they ask for your date of birth and postcode, I ask them who they are, and what it is about, they say it is a personnel banking matter, I ask them to tell me more in general terms, they tell me to contact my bank, i tell them I have, I then ask them to stop calling me and remove me from their data base and to write instead . Did not believe who they were so i called the real Lloyds Bank, they had never heard of the number, and had not been trying to contact me. So if you receive a call from this number call Lloyds on the number on the back of any of your cards.

They phone numerous times a day.. Always asking for someone other than me and always try ans keep me on the phone demanding I give out details like first line of address and phone number, full name etc. Horrible people. I'm registered with tps. Sick of them now

I didn't ring the number as I thought it could be a way to get around me. Having read this thread if seems that this is someone phishing -

My Truecall unit has logged this incoming call trying to get through nearly every day on home no for at least 2 weeks. They didn't get through my call screening because they didn't press the right key.
Today they (claiming to be Lloyds Bank asking for a person I've never heard of. Decided to ring back on the number given which was difference to incoming: 08081450410. I told them they had wrong no. They asked for my post code & to confirm my telephone number. Person assured me he had removed my number from their list so I'll see. I've blocked it now anyway. -

Have been receiving calls daily for the past week...all at different times during the day...when I answer there is no one on the other end or I get the dialling tone.
No one in our household banks with the HBOS group and we are ex directory...only family members have our home number as we tend to use mobiles more frequently.
I just don't answer now but still find the fact they keep calling annoying. -

My house phone never rings except for wrong numbers, a guy with a foreign accent asked for Mr Daniel Radcliffe (Seriously) when I said wrong number he asked for my name and to confirm the number he had just called! I told him I'm registered with TPS and I work in a call centre so I know the rules require him to terminate the call, he still tried to get me to confirm my number. I hung up in the end, I'm sure they'll try again. I know the Real call centres monitor forums like this as it is part of their Ofcom target to have low harassment complaints, so it’s important to fill these forms in.

Man with a strong Asian accent called one evening claiming to be from "Lloyds Bank" asking to talk to the "account holder" and confirm security details. He was just fishing for personal details, he was completely unaware who I was and that I was not a customer of Lloyds TSB.
Looking back I have had several unanswered calls both before and after from the same number still trying their luck.
Criminal to think that this is an ex directory line that was installed within the last couple of months and the only people I have disclosed this number to are banks, utilities andthe relevant insurance companies! -

He finally wanted my last 3 addresses!
I knew it wasnt the Halifax bank because they use uk regional tel numbers not 08 numbers.
I immediately called the Fraud dept of Halifax where they acknowledged the number had recently been made know to them.Sculptress replied 9/19/15, 9:44 AMI wonder how come they are still trying to steal from people 16 months later, then? The fact is, Lloyds/HBOS database has been hacked - and neither they, nor anyone else, can do anything about it. What a paper tiger the TPS/Ex-Directory etc is. Disgraceful. -

When asked nature of call was told "bank account query" but refused to elaborate but said I could contact branch to verify.
