I love the comments from people saying that its a genuine company. Maybe but do you really want to divulge everything in your life to an unknown third party who will sell it on. Its another case of watching everything you do. If you fill up with petrol at tesco and use a clubcard and credit card they get your numberplate, age of car,your credit ability, what shopping you bought, and so on it goes. Great now they can market anything they like to you or sell your info.

Claimed to be Populus Data Services, claimed to have generated number randomly and claimed to be conducting a survey. Refused to pay my usual fee of £100 per hour or part theerof for participating in surveys (!) and weren't very happy when I asked for their registered address. Scum.

Just got a call right after getting off the phone to my husband, saw the number was an 0345, I hung up cause I had gotten a cold call this morning from someone claiming I had a car accident 3 years ago, I was pregnant 3 years ago and have not driven since then. If I do pick up, I lie, "are you in dept?" "NO" "have you been missold PPI?" "NO" even if it is true, make it sound like you have no business for them. I even told them that "I" didn't exist.

Legitimate research organisation that carry out a good deal of the opinion polls you see published in the media. Do not try to sell you anything and do not pass on your information to 3rd parties.

I work for this company, not scammers in any way shape or form. All numbers found by random digit dialling or if done a survey and agreed to take part in future surveys gets put into a target sample. Aren't allowed to tell people the actual issues unless the company that commissions the survey allows it which is very rare.

Cold Called me the other week.Asked how he had my private number that is for family only, gave some BS answer. Wanted to do some survey. Explained to him I was ridiculously busy and didn't accept cold calls and want me number taking off their system immediately. Same number then called the other day. I gave the same unhappy response and have since had 3 missed calls from this same number. Not impressed. I never put my no. On any online site ever. I am on Orange.

My home number is ex-directory and registered with the TPS. I've still had 2 calls from this organisation. The first was an automnated dial with no operator at the end - only a recorded message. The second someone actually spoke to me to tell me it was about a survey. On both ocassions I hung up without saying anything. I have reported the number to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) for breach of telecommunications rules.

It's genuine market research (opinion polls for newspapers, BBC, etc) and they don't link your answers to your number at all, and don't have any personal information about you.spidergirl replied 12/6/15, 11:23 AMSo why are they ringing at stupid times? they rang me today i picked up they asking me all these questions about what i think of the police should they stop people on road and stuff like that
and what do i think of the police spying on a family that some 1 had been murdered in and they where asking what incomes do i get how much do i pay for the house was like i don't my parents do and they where asking roughly how much i said i dont know lol -

Con men once again trying to sell, increase your payments, connect to your computer or any number of tricks to extract money from descent people by use of a phone. In my eyes anyone using a phone to and further their business is a criminal. All contacts made by people unknown to me deserve a 9 - and in this case it is a 9 and another number for my call blocker. £40 out of Argos --- best buy I ever made!
Anon replied 4/28/14, 7:27 PMThis number is the outgoing line of Populus a market research company, as such they are not in breach of the TPS as they are entitled to randomly generate numbers through a dialler system to contact a random sample of the population. They're a genuine company and you can clarify this by contacting the market research society on 0500396999 -

These guys are very clever indeed. Be very careful. They even asked me my current income and who is vote for in the next election.
It goes through a system. If you give enough details on the first call. They will follow up again on a week and get more.
Just waste as much of their time as possible and give completely false info.

Seems interesting that someone else mentioned about O2 when I am on O2. Maybe Telefonica are selling our info? -

These scum are called "Populus" and claim to be a "respected" market research company. However, one of their operatives admitted to me that they are cold-calling by autodialling random digits to obtain live numbers. Woman rang from this number, asking if she could conduct a survey about 'a wide range of issues'. I asked could she give me an example, but she said no - not unless I agreed to the survey - laughable response! I said I was busy, she asked if she could call back. I said maybe another evening. I'll post again if she rings back and I find out any more info.

Just recieved a call from this number the man said he was conducting research, i asked how he got my number, he told me they pick one number the rest is randomised thats how he got it, i wasnt buying it so i said not interested and hung up
