Investigator John - Isle of Wight reported British Gas (spoofed) with the number 01905570960 as Harassment calls
Caller of indian voice claims to be Alex from British Gas, saying there had been a mix up on my account creating a £1800 overcharge he wants to help correct. However, all the details he quoted was from my business which is not related to my private British Gas Account - suspicious, and certainly not from British Gas. No information given to him, this is either a phishing exercise or some other scam.

claimed to be calling from EDF, sounded Indian maybe? Was asking to speak to the account holder for our energy, mentioned our company by name, we are a small showroom (of about 30 around the country). If this was a legit call, you wouldn't be calling this number asking for our account holder!
Next time they call, i'll play along with it and tell them they need to speak to head office. When they ask for the number to call i'll just read theirs out -

Had a call from this number just now to our business from an Indian man. saying there was a problem with 1 digit in our postcode on our account. I checked out last bill and our postcode was fine he wanted me to provide a serial number and I asked several times if the company he was calling from was EDF and he said yes but it really didn't sound legit, I googled the phone number and saw similar comments so I hung up. Be aware!

Claimed to be from British Gas saying that there had been an error on my latest bill. Tried to get me to confirm our meter serial number. At the same time an e-mail came through from British Gas with a password change security code so they must have been trying to hack into our account. Not sure why but a warning to anyone else. They hung up when I started reading out some of the other reviews off this page

Please don't answer this caller they pretend to be from your energy supplier to get details from your invoices. In our case they said they were from Crown Gas Power but initially SSE. They are very pushy and aggressive. Do not share your details. In fact block them if you can.

Keeps phoning trying to obtain account and metering numbers. They are persistent and could almost sound genuine. Except they have no real information about our account. Allegedly phoning from SSE metering department but can't tell us the last meter reading on the account, although it is in error. Do not be fooled.

'Steve' called from 01905 570960 claiming to be from EON Next and my gas contract is up for renewal. When I explained that EON send our renewal letters and have never called this business once, 'Steve' tried to talk over me to convince me that he was our current supplier.
Its about time the telecom Companies are held accountable when a SCAM company uses its network.

Pretended to be from our energy company saying we had been overcharged on our bill as someone else's electric had been charged to our meter number. Very convincing at first but then asked questions about our contract ect. THEY SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN FOR SAYING THEY ARE YOUR SUPPLIER WHEN THEY ARE NOT
