The nuisance calls from the criminals started before 8.00. a.m. today. After the usual few seconds of crackling the man announced he was from Talk Talk and wanted to know how I was today. Ignoring this, I asked whom he wanted to talk to. I asked him a second time after he said it was the person whose number it was. "Yes, but what name?" I persisted. There was a brief pause before he rang off. I wonder why! After the call I was able to return to the bathroom. As I was finishing this report there was another call from the same number! There was the usual crackling. Someone started to speak. Then I got a dialling tone.
