   After a lull in these 'fax whistle' calls they are back. Today, 27/02/14, there were about ten of these calls made to my landline during a 20 minute period. FPS informed. BT unhelpful as its 'nuisance' line always has a long queue of potential callers.

   Someone is trying to send you a fax, they've probably put your number in their fax machine by mistake and the fax machine has stored the fax in memory and keeps dutifully trying to send it. You might call your provider and ask them to block the number.

   Thank you Bournemouth Boy for the possible reason these calls persist. I've tried to contact BT but all I get from the nuisance calls number is a recoded vice telling me that they are 'exceptionally busy' and to try later. Has anyone got a direct line to a BT official who is willing to talk to a customer?

   Persistent calls from this number received on my landline every afternoon. All that happens when my receiver is picked up is a regular 'whistle' - like an old-fashioned fax.
   The same 'whistle' is all that happens if I dial the number from my landline.
